Superhydrophobic Solution Blow Spinning PTFE–SiO2 Composite Membranes for Enhanced Liquid–Liquid Extraction

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Solution blow spinning PTFE‐SiO2 membrane for membrane assisted solvent extraction. ABSTRACT An ultrafine‐fibrous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)–SiO2 membrane was successfully fabricated using the solution blow spinning (SBS) method. This membrane demonstrated superhydrophobicity (water contact angle > 150°) and oleophilicity (ethyl acetate contact ...

Advanced control scheme and dynamic phasor modelling of grid‐tied droop‐controlled inverters

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract This paper develops an advanced scheme, modelling, and analysis of power flow control intended for grid‐connected droop‐controlled VSIs within a single‐phase microgrid (MG). The proposed control scheme includes a power calculation method based on an enhanced second‐order generalized integrator frequency‐locked loop (ESOGI‐FLL). Contrary to the

Output feedback robust stabilization of distributed‐order systems

open access: yesAsian Journal of Control, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper addresses the challenge of robust fast stabilization for a class of dynamical systems characterized by slow and ultra‐slow dynamics. The system model is approximated using a distributed‐order derivative of the measured output, which captures the influence of the control input, system dynamics, and external disturbances.

Magnetic neutron scattering from spherical nanoparticles with Néel surface anisotropy: analytical treatment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1475-1487, December 2022., 2022
The magnetization profile and the ensuing magnetic neutron scattering signal from an inhomogeneously magnetized spherical nanoparticle with Néel surface anisotropy are derived analytically. The magnetization profile and the related magnetic small‐angle neutron scattering cross section of a single spherical nanoparticle with Néel surface anisotropy are ...

Is (Independent) Subordination Relevant in Equity Derivatives?

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Monroe (1978) demonstrates that any local semimartingale can be represented as a time‐changed Brownian Motion (BM). A natural question arises: does this representation theorem hold when the BM and the time‐change are independent? We prove that a local semimartingale is not equivalent to a BM with a time‐change that is independent from the BM ...

Aging Behavior Beyond SOH 80: An Experimental Aging Study on Commercial Lithium–Ion Batteries with Different Cathode Materials: Capacity Loss, Resistance Change and Impedance Modeling

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Commercial cells made of four different cathode materials are studied for two modes of degradation and subsequently characterized with three different diagnostic techniques during and after aging, leading to a total of more than 200 cells analyzed for this study. Thus, this study reveals aging effects for lithium–ion batteries beyond state of health of

The Laplace transform of the digamma function: an integral due to Glasser, Manna and Oloa [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We provide an analytic expression for the Laplace transform of the digamma fuction. This complements work of L. Glasser, D. Manna and O. Oloa on this question. The Laplace transform is continuous in the Laplace-variable a. The derivative admits a jump at a= ln 2.

A generalization of Laplace and Fourier transforms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In this note we propose a generalization of the Laplace and Fourier transforms which we call symmetric Laplace transform. It combines both the advantages of the Fourier and Laplace transforms. We give the definition of this generalization, some examples and basic properties.

Susceptible‐infected‐recovered model with stochastic transmission

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The susceptible‐infected‐recovered (SIR) model is the cornerstone of epidemiological models. However, this specification depends on two parameters only, which results in its lack of flexibility and explains its difficulty to replicate the volatile reproduction numbers observed in practice.

The quantile‐based classifier with variable‐wise parameters

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Quantile‐based classifiers can classify high‐dimensional observations by minimizing a discrepancy of an observation to a class based on suitable quantiles of the within‐class distributions, corresponding to a unique percentage for all variables.
