Improvement in fracture toughness of austempered ductile iron by two-step austempering process
International Journal of Cast Metals Research, 2010Abstract Ductile cast iron samples were austenitised at 900°C and subjected to two types of austempering called as conventional austempering and two-step austempering. Five different temperatures, 280, 300, 320, 350, 380 and 400°C, with an austempering time of 2 h, were chosen for conventional austempering.

A transmission electron microscope was used to study the morphology of austenite and ferrite in austempered ductile iron obtained through conventional and two-step austempering process. In this investigation, two compositions of ductile iron with carbon equivalent 4.3% (alloy 1) and 3.1% (alloy 2) were selected. Both alloys were austenitized for 60 min

Improvement of Abrasion Wear Resistance of Ductile Iron by Two-Step Austempering
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Abrasion wear rates of conventional and two-step austempered ductile cast iron (ADI) were investigated. Conventional austempering and two-step austempering processes were carried out at 280, 300, and 320°C. Microstructures revealed that higher austemperig temperature resulted in coarser ausferrite and higher volume fractions of blocky retained ...

Study of wear behaviour of ductile iron subjected to two step austempering
International Journal of Materials Research, 2010Abstract An investigation was carried out to examine the influence of two step austempering on microstructural parameters and the wear behaviour of austempered ductile iron. Ductile iron was austenitised at 900°C for 30 min, and then austempered successively at two different temperatures.

The predicted processing window has been used to select temperature–time parameters for austempering of a 3·39C–2·28Si–0·48Mn–0·13Mo–0·23Cu–0·05Ni–0·034Mg (wt-%) ductile iron. Comparison of a single step austempering with two step high–low temperature regime has been carried out.

The Effect of Two-Step Austempering on Abrasion Wear Characteristics of the Ductile Cast Iron
2020This paper focuses on the effect of two-step austempering on abrasion wear characteristics of the ductile cast iron. The single-step (conventional) and two-step austempering were employed for the samples. There were four treatments. For all samples, austenitization at 900 °C was done. The first treatment comprised of conventional austempering at 400 °C.
