Modern two‐stroke engine lubrication

Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 1997
Describes the basic orbital combustion process X engine and gives the specification of the lubricant required. Sets out the objectives of a programme for the development of a lubricant for the IAPAC two‐stroke engine being developed in France and Italy. Also describes ELEVATE, another development engine.

Conventional two‐stroke engine lubrication

Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 1997
Gives the results of trials conducted in China which show the use of top‐grade, low smoke, part synthetic two‐stroke oil gives better performance and four times longer engine life than the four‐stroke engine oils generally used to lubricate two‐stroke engines in China. Sets out existing and proposed international standards for two‐stroke engine oils.

Emission Control of Two-Stroke Automobile Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1977
It has long been held that 2-stroke engines are not congenitally adapted to exhaust emission control for meeting anti-pollution requirements, but this notion has to be altered because of the success Suzuki Motors has scored in its emission control system developed for its water-cooled, 2-stroke, three cylinders engine and based on (1) 2-stage catalytic

The Two-Stroke Cycle Engine, Proscribe or Prosper?

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 1991
This Address is concerned with the work carried out by an engineering academic at The Queen's University of Belfast over the last 26 years. It describes the motivation which impelled the author towards a career in mechanical engineering and into a specialist field from which he has never strayed.

Progress in Two-Stroke S.I. Engines

1996
Thanks to its lightness, small dimensions and attractive simplicity, the two-stroke, S.I. engine may be potentially preferable to the four-stroke one for city cars and other small vehicles. However, the loss of fresh mixture from the exhaust port, together with bad combustion and/or misfire at light loads constitute great limitations.

Two Stroke Engine Oil Scenario in India

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1995
India is having a large population of two stroke cycle engines. Before the advent of two stroke engine oils in India, motor oils were used to be mixed along with gasoline for two stroke engine lubrication for those vehicles having premixed type of lubrication system. The motor oils due to the high ash containing additives give rise to problems like pre-

An Investigation Into the Future of Two Stroke Motorcycle Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1978
Fuel consumption and exhaust problems associated with the two-stroke motorcycle/moped/motor scooter engine compared to the four-stroke engine are reviewed. The most serious drawback of the two-stroke engine is its high fuel consumption due to scavenging losses of the fresh air/fuel mixture.

Discharge of Exhaust Gases in Two-Stroke Engines

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1949
The paper points out that the two-stroke engine still has a field of great importance, i.e. the compression-ignition engine, and that, although the two-stroke cycle has been known for so long, the theory of the discharge of exhaust gases from the cylinder is still in doubt, and some of the generally accepted assumptions have been challenged in recent ...
