Nonparametric estimation in random sum models

open access: yesStatistica, 2013
Let X1,X2,…,XN be independent, identically distributed, non-negative, integervalued random variables and let N be a non-negative, integer-valued random variable independent of X1,X2,…,XN .

On a mean value of a multiplicative function of two variables

open access: yesAdvanced Studies in Pure Mathematics, 2019
We prove the existence of a mean value of arithmetical functions of two variables : $\lim_{x, y \to \infty} (xy)^{-1} \sum_{m \le x, n \le y} f(m, n)$ under some conditions, and, when $f$ is a multiplicative function of two variables, express the mean value as an infinite product over all primes.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Dynamics and Matter-Wave Solitons in Bose-Einstein Condensates with Two- and Three-Body Interactions

open access: yesAdvances in Condensed Matter Physics, 2014
By means of similarity transformation, this paper proposes the matter-wave soliton solutions and dynamics of the variable coefficient cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation arising from Bose-Einstein condensates with time-dependent two- and three ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Koncert i kwestia czasu

open access: yesPoznańskie Studia Slawistyczne, 2017
The focus on the structural and semantic role of time is one of the key features of modernist cinema in the period after the Second World War. Modernist filmmakers experiment with means of aesthetic expression, such as montage, mise-en-scène, camera work,

An exact constant on the estimation of the approximation of classes of periodic functions of two variables by Ceśaro means

open access: yesMatematychni Studii, 2022
In the present work, we study problem related to the approximation of continuous $2\pi$-periodic functions by linear means of their Fourier series. The simplest example of a linear approximation of periodic function is the approximation of this function by partial sums of the Fourier series.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

THE IMPACT OF ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ON THE EVOLUTION OF THE SLOPES IN THE NARUJA BASIN [PDF]

open access: yesAerul şi Apa: Componente ale Mediului, 2013
The environment’s evolution by means of erosion processes takes places wherever the water acts, but the intensity of the phenomenon varies a a lot from one place to another depending on the resultant of two categories of dynamic components.
