Alkali Chalcogenido Dialuminates A6[Al2Q6] (A = K, Rb, Cs; Q = S, Se, Te)

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
Seven new alkali chalcogenido aluminates A6[Al2Q6] (A = K‐Cs, Q = S‐Te) complement the family of simple metallates(III) A6[M2Q6] (M = Al‐In, FeIII) with dinuclear anions of two edge sharing [AlQ4] tetrahedra. Despite the similar anions, straightforward bonding situation and physical properties, these metallates crystallize in seven different structure ...

The Crystal Structures of High‐ and Low‐Temperature Silver Pyrophosphate: Structural Instability and Its Consequences

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
The crystal structures of the high‐temperature and low‐temperature phases of silver pyrophosphate are reported. The structural results are complemented by thermal analysis, vibrational and 31P‐MAS‐NMR spectroscopy studies, and density functional theory calculations.

Mobile consumers influence the shoreward edge of intertidal seagrass ecosystems

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Ecological paradigms suggest that the environmentally stressful edge of a habitat is determined by physical factors. The work finds that, counter to these paradigms, an environmentally stressful edge can also be impacted by biotic interactions and are more complex than suggested.

Understanding natal emigration in group‐living carnivores

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Dispersal is a key ecological and evolutionary process, yet drivers of variation in emigration under human‐modified conditions remain understudied. Using a novel genetic approach applied to harvested grey wolves in Idaho, USA, we found that prey availability and population density shape natal emigration patterns in a cooperative breeder.

The Gender of Heteroclites1

open access: yesTransactions of the Philological Society, EarlyView.
Abstract Few have asked what happens to gender when a noun is heteroclitic – when its inflection draws on more than one inflection class. While heteroclisis has moved from being treated as a marginal irregularity to a theoretically revealing phenomenon, its implications for gender assignment remain largely unexplored.
