Spinal Cord Infarction Versus Idiopathic Transverse Myelitis: Clinical, Radiological, and Functional Insights From a Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Impact of Asymptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage on Outcome After Endovascular Stroke Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Endovascular treatment (EVT) achieves high rates of recanalization in acute large‐vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke, but functional recovery remains heterogeneous. While symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) has been well studied, the prognostic impact of asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (aICH) after EVT is less certain ...

Neuroinflammation in GAD65 Antibody‐Associated Epilepsy Measured Using [18F]DPA‐714 PET/MRI

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The timing for initiating immunotherapy in patients with glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) antibody‐associated epilepsy is a challenge. We used the translocator protein radioligand [18F]DPA‐714 and PET to evaluate brain microglial activation.

Two-Phase Flow [PDF]

open access: yes
An experimental program to characterize the spray from candidate nozzles for icing-cloud simulation is discussed. One canidate nozzle, which is currently used for icing research, has been characterized for flow and drop size.

Vertical Two-Phase Flow

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 1998
AbstractData are presented on flow regimes, holdup and pressure drop for vertical co‐current two phase flow in a 0.026 m i.d. pipe. A universal flow regime map was not possible but flow regime transitional equations were developed for the slug to churn, churn to semi‐annular, semi‐annular to annular and annular to annular ripple boundaries.

Two phase flow

2016
Basics of fluid dynamics were discussed in former chapters. But the flow we studied there was a simple one such as only a liquid or a gas. As is well known, materials can change into three forms, gas, liquid, and solid. In industrial instruments like found in chemical and nuclear power plants, flow is more likely to be multiphase than single phase. For

Two-Phase Flow

2014
This chapter is the third that presents an example application of TCAT to a porous medium flow and transport problem. Single-phase flow was modeled in Chap. 9. The analysis considered three entities: a fluid phase, w, a solid phase, s, and the interface between the phases, ws. In Chap.

Separated two-phase flow model: application to critical two-phase flow

International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1983
Abstract A separated flow model has been developed to allow the calculation of critical flow rates for steam-water mixtures. This model considers hydrodynamic as well as thermal non-equilibrium effects which are present due to rapid depressurization. Thus, this model incorporates interphase interaction terms for momentum, energy and mass.
