When Bigger is Better: Lanthanum Complexes of Bis(phenoxy‐amidine) FAlen Ligands as Unique Catalysts for the Isoselective Ring‐Opening Polymerization of Racemic β‐Lactones

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 36, September 1, 2025.
Discrete lanthanum complexes supported by new bis(phenoxy‐amidine) ligands act as highly efficient ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) catalysts of simple and functional β‐propiolactones rac‐BLR under mild conditions, returning in a controlled manner the corresponding linear polymers PBLR with high isoselectivity, no matter the nature and polarity of the

Cross‐continental transmission and host adaptation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in China unveiled by population history reconstruction and adaptive evolution signal detection

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 2, Issue 4, December 2025.
This study showed that four Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) sub‐lineages might be introduced into China 1000–400 years ago via Europe‐China dispersal routes, where they diversified into local clades, and later underwent population expansions that coincided with periods of climatic cooling and warfare.

Shape Morphing Programmable Systems for Enhanced Control in Low‐Velocity Flow Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2025.
A soft, Lorentz‐force‐driven programmable surface enables rapid, reversible shape morphing for active flow control. Integrating experimental, numerical, and modeling approaches, the system demonstrates effective modulation of near‐wall flow and momentum at low velocities, offering pathways for bio‐inspired aerodynamics and natural locomotion emulation.

Toughness of Confined Auxetic Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 17, September 2025.
Auxetic (negative Poisson's ratio) materials offer benefits such as impact mitigation, thermal insulation, vibration damping, and reduced shear strain, although their fracture mechanics are largely unexplored. This study investigates damage initiation and propagation in confined re‐entrant auxetic foams from polyurethane via experimental ...

Shape Memory Polymer‐Based Hook‐and‐Loop Fastener for Robust Bonding and on‐Demand Easy Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 13, July 2025.
A 3D shape memory polymer‐based hook‐and‐loop fastener, fabricated using projection microstereolithography and molding, offers tunable bonding strength through temperature control. When heated from 25 to 70 °C, the fastener softens and deforms easily, reducing bonding strength by 20‐fold for on‐demand easy separation.

On the Rigidity and Mechanical Behavior of Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces‐Based Lattices: Insights from Extensive Experiments and Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 12, June 2025.
This study examines the mechanical properties of triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS)‐based lattices, analyzing 36 architectures in elastic and plastic regimes. It evaluates the applicability of beam‐based scaling laws to TPMS lattices. Rigidity arises from the alignment of members with the load direction and solid regions preventing rotation.

Rolled Soft Actuators Based on P(VDF‐TrFE‐CTFE) Electrospun Nanofibers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2025.
A novel rolled soft actuator based on P(VDF‐TrFE‐CTFE) electrospun nanofibers is proposed. The active layers and the electrodes are fabricated and bonded by electrostatic adhesion force. The presence of the P(VDF‐TrFE‐CTFE) nanofibers enhances the energy density of the actuator up to 12.9%.
