Type A Aortic Dissection in Pregnancy

Obstetric Anesthesia Digest, 2012
Type A aortic dissection is a life-threatening event to both mother and baby, and accounted for 14% of maternal cardiac deaths in the 2006-2008 UK Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Deaths. Difficulty exists in the diagnosis of this rare but potentially curable condition, the mortality of which increases with delay in diagnosis.

Acute Type A Aortic Dissection

Cardiology Clinics, 2017
Type A aortic dissection is a surgical emergency occurring when an intimal tear in the aorta creates a false lumen in the ascending aorta. Prompt diagnosis and surgical treatment are imperative to optimize outcomes. Surgical repair requires replacement of the ascending aorta with or without aortic root or aortic arch replacement.

Spontaneous type A aortic dissection in a dog

Journal of Veterinary Cardiology, 2023
A 10-year-old male Cocker Spaniel was presented for evaluation of right forelimb lameness and seizure-like episodes. Panting with increased respiratory rate and opisthotonus were evident during the physical examination. Cardiac auscultation revealed a left basilar, grade III/VI systolic murmur.

Repair of Type a Aortic Dissection in Nonagenarian

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2010
Without emergency surgical management, acute type A aortic dissection carries a high risk of death. Controversy exists as to whether extreme age remains a contraindication to surgery. We describe successful repair of type A aortic dissection with ascending aortic graft replacement, aortic valve repair, hemiarch reconstruction, and ablation of atrial ...

Spontaneous Resolution of Type A Aortic Dissection

Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 2005
We present the case of a middle-aged man who presented with type A aortic dissection, which was resolved spontaneously over 5 weeks time. We also discuss the possible mechanism and the role of conservative management in very selected group of patients.

Management of Acute Type A Aortic Dissection

Cardiology Clinics
This article reviews the management of acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD), from initial temporizing medical therapy to the technical aspects of urgent surgical repair, which is the definitive treatment for ATAAD. Surgical repair and the extent of aortic resection and replacement are dictated by the location and extent of intimal tears, as well as ...

Acute type A aortic dissection and coarctation of aortic isthmus.

The Journal of cardiovascular surgery, 2002
Acute type A aortic dissection and coarctation of the aorta is a rare associated disease. A case of two-stage repair is presented. Firstly the ascending aorta and the right hemi-arch was replaced using deep hypo-thermic circulatory arrest. Cardiopulmonary bypass was proximally instituted, in a patient with total aortic isthmus occlusion, using right ...
