The Energetics of Type II Supernovae

1984
The energetics of type II supernovae is considered within the gravitational implosion-explosion picture. The total (internal plus gravitational) energies of different parts of the star are calculated, when they are in, or close to, hydrostatic equilibrium.

Type II Supernovae Photospheres and Distances

1982
The kinematical method of determining distances to supernovae is briefly reviewed. A program to compute the required continuum flux from model atmospheres of Type II supernovae is outlined. The results of a perturbed gray-body calculation are presented to indicate qualitatively some of the important features to be expected.

Spectral Diagnostics og Type II Supernova

1991
The investigation of the spectra of Type II supernovae (SN II) is important for different fields in astronomy and astrophysics. Firstly, SN II are one of the most luminous single objects and may reach the same brightness at maximum as a whole galaxy. Therefore, they can be used as candles (KIRSHNER and KWAN, [1]) to determine the distances of galaxies,
