Abstract Discharge from sewage treatment plants can deteriorate river water quality due to improper management or insufficient levels of treatment. To address these challenges, constructed wetland systems (CWSs) have been widely used as a sustainable and effective solution for wastewater management.

The influence of peat volume change and vegetation on the hydrology of a kettle-hole wetland in Southern Ontario, Canada [PDF]
Links between local hydrology and vegetation type exist in wetlands, yet it is unclear what role peat volume change plays in these interactions. We measured peat volume change and hydraulic conductivity (Kfield) at three contrasting sites located on the ...

Sauerstoffdynamik im Wurzelraum von Typha angustifolia
Emergent aquatic plants have their below ground organs in anoxic sediments. To maintain aerobic root respiration oxygen has to be transported from aerial plant parts. In addition to their own consumption, roots loose oxygen (radial oxygen loss; ROL) to soil.

Taxonomic examination of Typha angustifolia L. in Korea
One of Korean Typha species has been used two scientific names, T. angustifolia L. and T. angustata Bory et Chaubard without taxonomic examinations. Typha angustifolia has a longer females flowers than bracteoles and equal length of bracteoles and hairs in female flowers whereas T.

Selenite antagonizes the phytotoxicity of Cd in the cattail Typha angustifolia
The Phytotoxicity of and mechanism underlying selenite-mediated tolerance to Cd stress in Typha angustifolia were studied hydroponically with respect to metal uptake and translocation, photosynthesis-related parameters, contents of proline and O2•-, products of lipid peroxidation, cell viability, enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants, glyoxalases ...

Orphan crops of archaeology‐based crop history research
Agrobiodiversity is central to sustainable farming worldwide. Cultivation, conservation and reintroduction of diverse plant species, including ‘forgotten’ and ‘underutilized’ crops, contribute to global agrobiodiversity, living ecosystems and sustainable food production.

Typha angustifolia extract reduces diet-induced hyperlipidemia in rats
Abstract Objective To observe the lipid-lowering effect of Typha angustifolia extract (TAE) in Sprague Dawley rats. Methods The rats were randomly divided into six groups, including the hypercholesterolemic diet (HYD) group. Ad libitum food was given to the animals for 60 d to establish dyslipidemia models.

A novel endophytic actinomycete, designated strain p1410T, was isolated from the root of cattail pollen (Typha angustifolia L.) and characterized using a polyphasic approach. The strain had morphological characteristics and chemotaxonomic properties identical to those of members of the genus Nonomuraea

Developing and Validating Species Distribution Models for Wetland Plants Across Europe
We fitted species distribution models (SDMs) for 265 wetland plant species in Europe. We validated predicted occurrences using independent data. The SDMs showed a high predictive performance, such that our SDMs can be used to predict broad‐scale distributions of wetland plants.
