Contrasting Mechanisms of Heatwave‐Ozone Pollution Compound Events and Independent Heatwave Events in the Yangtze River Delta

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Heat waves do not always coincide with ozone pollution, yet the mechanisms controlling their divergence remain insufficiently understood. Here, we investigate why some heat waves evolved into heatwave‐ozone pollution compound events (HWOP), whereas others remained isolated heat wave events (IHW), over the Yangtze River Delta during summer 2024.

An Analysis of Hurricane Eyewall Ice Using a Novel Lagrangian Trajectory and Growth Model

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Ice crystals in tropical cyclones (TCs) remain infrequently observed and difficult to model using Eulerian microphysics parameterizations. To better understand TC eyewall ice crystal processes, the Ice Crystal Trajectory Growth (ICTG) model, previously applied to an idealized squall line, was used to simulate Lagrangian ice crystal ...

Multi‐Step Gravity Wave Propagation From a Tropospheric Vortex to the Ionosphere Near the Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract The atmosphere and ionosphere form a vertically coupled system in which disturbances in the lower atmosphere can modulate ionospheric variability. Using reanalysis data, ground‐based GNSS observations, and COSMIC‐2 profiles, we investigate gravity waves (GWs) generation and upward coupling during a southwest vortex (SWV) event over the Tibetan

HaloTag Fusion Enables Dynamic Analysis of Prion Protein Biosynthesis, Turnover, and Misfolding

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Prion protein (PrP) misfolding underlies fatal neurodegenerative diseases. We developed a HaloTag‐based PrP fusion enabling spatiotemporal labeling of distinct PrP populations in living cells. This system recapitulates native PrP biology, reveals early misfolding events in disease‐associated mutants, and allows mechanistic interrogation of PrP‐lowering

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 1196-1220, June 2026.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Short-term Changes in Seafloor Character due to Flood-Derived Hyperpycnal Discharge: Typhoon Mindulle, Taiwan, July 2004

open access: yes, 2007
During Typhoon Mindulle in early July 2004, the Choshui River (central-western Taiwan) discharged similar to 72 Mt of sediment to the eastern Taiwan Strait; peak concentrations were >= 200 g/L, similar to 35%-40% of which was sand.

The Status, Challenges and Sustainable Development of the Abalone Industry in China

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT China has abundant abalone resources and a long history of abalone consumption. Abalone aquaculture is an important economic and social activity in China's coastal provinces. The country's abalone production has increased significantly in recent decades, and it is now the largest producer and consumer of abalone in the world.

Developing a simple soil erosion model including spatial variability in headwater catchments

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Hillslopes and stream channels are tightly linked in headwater catchments, where soil erosion on slopes is transported to channels depending on topography, soil properties, and ground cover conditions. Because these environments are highly spatially variable, geographic information system (GIS)‐based modeling approaches are effective for ...
