UPb geochronology of the Sri Lankan basement

Precambrian Research, 1994
Abstract UPb ages of zircons and monazites from ortho- and paragneisses representing the major crystalline basement units of Sri Lanka establish a new geochronological framework, which is consistent with previously published work on SmNd model ages, RbSr whole-rock ages, and UPb mineral ages.

LA-ICP-MS U-Pb geochronology and clumped isotope constraints on the formation and evolution of an ancient dolomite reservoir: The Middle Permian of northwest Sichuan Basin (SW China)

, 2020
Recent advances in laser-ablation inductively coupled-plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) in-situ U-Pb radiometric dating and clumped isotope thermometry (Δ47) of carbonate minerals provide potential for refining the fluid flow and diagenetic history of

Petrogenesis of the Lijiagou spodumene pegmatites in Songpan-Garze Fold Belt, West Sichuan, China: Evidence from geochemistry, zircon, cassiterite and coltan U-Pb geochronology and Hf isotopic compositions

, 2020
Spodumene and other pegmatites in the Lijiagou area are located in the central Songpan-Garze Fold Belt (SGFB), West Sichuan. These pegmatites are hosted within the giant Songpan-Garze polymetallic belt.

Synthesis and purification of 205Pb for UPb geochronology

Chemical Geology: Isotope Geoscience section, 1987
Abstract 205Pb is a synthetic isotope of great utility in UPb geochronology, but it has never been widely available in a purified, useable form. We have successfully completed two production runs with a total yield of ∼100μg 205Pb. The isotope was produced by 24–27-MeV proton irradiation using cyclotron facilities of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited

A new method for U-Pb geochronology of cassiterite by ID-TIMS applied to the Mole Granite polymetallic system, eastern Australia

, 2020
We present a new method for precisely determining the U-Pb isotopic composition of cassiterite by isotope dilution-thermal ionisation mass spectrometry (ID-TIMS).

LA-ICP-MS U Pb geochronology of wolframite by combining NIST series and common lead-bearing MTM as the primary reference material:Implications for metallogenesis of South China

, 2020
Direct dating of W and W Sn deposits by wolframite is more reliable relatively to gangue mineral and important for understanding their timing and genesis. However, such analysis still lacks of homogeneous wolframite standard recently.

U–Pb geochronology: its development and importance in Canada

Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2023
This article presents a history of the development of U–Pb geochronology with emphasis on the role of Canadian researchers and some of its applications to Canadian geology. Modern U–Pb dating is the result of work by many individuals over the past 60 years, but the most important was Tom Krogh, who established methods that allowed determination of ...

Timing of the Arabia-Eurasia continental collision—Evidence from detrital zircon U-Pb geochronology of the Red Bed Series strata of the northwest Zagros hinterland, Kurdistan region of Iraq

Geology, 2018
One of the major debated aspects of the Zagros orogenic system in the Middle East is the timing of onset of continental collision between Arabia and Eurasia.

U-Pb geochronology of exposed basement rocks in Oklahoma

Geological Society of America Bulletin, 1979
U-Pb measurements on zircons separated from Precambrian basement rocks from Oklahoma yield the following: (1) the Spavinaw Granite, which appears in outcrops in Mayes County, northeastern Oklahoma, is 1,370 ± 20 m.y. old; (2) the ages of rocks exposed in the eastern Arbuckle Mountains in southeastern Oklahoma are: Tishomingo Granite, 1,374 ± 15 m.y ...

U/Pb geochronology of the Coney Head Complex, Newfoundland

Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, 1987
The Coney Head Complex, White Bay, Newfoundland, comprises allochthonous plutonic rocks and deformed equivalents emplaced over the continental margin during the Ordovician Taconic Orogeny. A U/Pb zircon age of 474 + 2 Ma for tonalite considered as having formed by partial melting in an island arc, indicates that it crystallized in Arenig time.
