Engineering cyber infrastructure for U-Pb geochronology: Tripoli and U-Pb_Redux [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the past decade, major advancements in precision and accuracy of U-Pb geochronology, which stem from improved sample pretreatment and refined measurement techniques, have revealed previously unresolvable discrepancies among analyses from different ...

In situ U–Pb geochronology of Pre-Salt carbonates reveals links between diagenesis and regional tectonics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Identification of processes driving carbonate diagenesis requires an accurate chronology, particularly along volcanic margins where complex mineral parageneses develop.

7000 Years of Aboriginal Mining at Sugarloaf Hill in the Riverland Region of South Australia

open access: yesArchaeology in Oceania, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silcrete and chert are commonly represented in Aboriginal archaeological lithic assemblages across large parts of the southwestern Murray‐Darling Basin (MDB). In South Australia (SA), these materials were sourced from a series of quarries located along the incised course of the Murray River through the upper Riverland region.

Mesozoic–Cenozoic Thermochronology of the Tarim–Southern Tianshan System, NW China

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Tectonothermal history of the Tarim–Southern Tianshan system compared with the major tectonic events at far‐field plate margins. ABSTRACT The Tarim Basin, an oil‐bearing basin in northwest China, is tectonically and sedimentologically linked to the Southern Tianshan Orogenic Belt.

Thermochronologic Constraints on the Extensional History of the Ibex Hills, Southeastern Black Mountains, Death Valley, California

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A. Modeled T‐t paths for samples in the northern Ibex Hills, showing steady cooling throughout much of the Cenozoic, until rapid Miocene cooling. B. Weighted mean paths for each sample in this study. Note that all show a rapid cooling event at or just after 10 Ma, which is interpreted to represent exhumation as a result of regional extenstion ...

Variscan collisional magmatism and deformation in NW Iberia: Constraints from U-Pb geochronology of granitoids

open access: yes, 2000
U–Pb geochronology of Variscan granitoid rocks from the West Asturian Leonese Zone of the NW Iberian belt documents the episodic nature of magmatism in this section of the western European Variscides.

Geochemistry and Geochronology of Magmatic Rocks in Southwestern and Northeastern Cambodia: Implications for the Tectonic Evolution and Metallogenesis of the Loei Fold Belt

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The composition of intrusive rocks suggests that the magma was likely generated in a subduction‐related setting. The arc crustal thickness in the Phnom Sro Ngam and Halo Prospects was probably < 40 km during emplacement. Zircon U–Pb age range indicates a correlation with Loei Fold Belt magmatic activity.

Zircon as a provenance tracer: Coupling Raman spectroscopy and U Pb geochronology in source-to-sink studies

open access: yes, 2020
U Pb zircon geochronology is one of the most widely used techniques in sedimentary provenance analysis. Unfortunately, the ability of this method to identify sediment sources is often degraded by sediment recycling and mixing of detritus from different ...
