U–Pb SHRIMP dating of uraniferous opals

open access: yesChemical Geology, 2006
Abstract U–Pb and U-series analyses of four U-rich opal samples using sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) demonstrate the potential of this technique for the dating of opals with ages ranging from several tens of thousand years to millions of years.

Isotopic U–Pb-SHRIMP dating of Mugodzhari eclogites (Kazakhstan)

Доклады Российской академии наук. Науки о Земле / Doklady Earth Sciences
In the extreme south of the Urals, zircons from eclogites and amphibolite were dated in metamorphites of the East Mugodzhar zone. Of the 4 eclogite samples, close (and the most “ancient” – 520±4 million years) concordant age values were obtained in 3 samples, which probably corresponds to the age of the protolith.

Identifying granite sources by SHRIMP U-Pb zircon geochronology: an application to the Lachlan foldbelt

Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, 1999
The potential genetic link between granites and their host sediments can be assessed using zircon age inheritance patterns. In the Lachlan fold belt, southeastern Australia, granites and associated high-grade metasedimentary rocks intrude low-grade Ordovician country rock. This relationship is well-exposed in the Tallangatta region, northeast Victoria (
