A novel sample pre-screening methodology for accurate in situ U-Pb dating of zircon crystals
Internal inhomogeneity of the zircon crystals makes it difficult to date succedent geological processes. To overcome this limitation, a four-step pre-examination method is suggested before LA-ICP-MS based in situ U-Pb age determination of zircon crystals:

Abstract The timing of Cenozoic deformation in the East Kunlun Mountains, northern Tibet, is crucial for understanding plateau growth but remains disputed due to the scarcity of direct chronological constraints on specific tectonic structures. Here, we present a high‐density‐sampling magnetostratigraphic record from the Xiaohongshan section, interior ...

Most detrital zircon studies generate grayscale cathodoluminescence (CL) images, U/Pb dates, and variably extensive trace element concentration data. Yet the combined information contained in these data is rarely used for a higher‐level interpretation of

Pre‐Eruptive Volatiles and Magma Storage Depth for the 2018 Eruption at Mount Veniaminof, Alaska
Abstract Mount Veniaminof is a frequently active, open‐system arc volcano on the Alaska Peninsula, part of the Alaska‐Aleutian arc. Mount Veniaminof's September–December 2018 eruption began with small lava flows and culminated in a larger explosive event in November that produced a 450 km long continuous ash plume—one of the volcano's most significant ...

Abstract The Geomagnetic Polarity Time Scale (GPTS) is essential to date geological events in stratigraphic sequences and to reconstruct plate motions. The first GPTSs were based on the record of magnetic anomalies created by seafloor spreading, calibrated by a few radioisotopic dates.

Abstract Quartz optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) sensitivity and electron spin resonance (ESR) signals have been empirically proposed as indicators of sediment provenance. OSL sensitivity is defined as luminescence produced per unit dose (Gray: Gy) per unit mass (mg).
