Interpreting Kendall’s Tau and Tau-U for single-case experimental designs

open access: yesCogent Psychology, 2018
Tau (τ), a nonparametric rank order correlation statistic, has been applied to single-case experimental designs with promising results. Tau-U, a family of related coefficients, partitions variance associated with changes in trend and level.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Management and outcomes of women with placenta accreta spectrum grade 3: an INOSS multicountry multiperiod population-based study

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth
Background Management and outcomes in women with placenta accreta spectrum grade 3 are rarely reported from population-based studies. The objective of this study is to describe profiles, management, and outcomes, of women with placenta accreta spectrum ...

On the Asymptotic Distribution of U-Statistics. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Abstract : The asymptotic distribution of a U-statistic is found in the case when the corresponding Von Mises functional is stationary of order 1. Practical methods for the tabulation of the limit distributions are discussed, and the results extended to certain incomplete U-statistics. (Author)

Aberrant expression of nuclear prothymosin α contributes to epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Guided Decision Tree: A Tool to Interactively Create Decision Trees Through Visualization of Subsequent LDA Diagrams

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Decision trees are a widely used machine learning technique due to their ease of interpretation and construction. This method allows domain experts to learn from raw data, but they cannot include their prior knowledge in the analysis due to its automatic

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.
