Anaerobic sewage treatment in a one-stage UASB reactor and a combined UASB-Digester system

Water Research, 2004
The treatment of sewage at 15 degrees C was investigated in a one-stage upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor and a UASB-Digester system. The latter consists of a UASB reactor complemented with a digester for mutual sewage treatment and sludge stabilisation.

Anaerobic degradation of protein-rich biomass in an UASB reactor: Organic loading rate effect on product output and microbial communities dynamics.

Journal of Environmental Management, 2020
Anaerobic degradation of enzymatically pretreated Chlorella vulgaris was aimed in an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor (UASB) to evaluate the organic loading rate (OLR) effect on biomass valorization.

Principal component analysis as a criterion for monitoring variable organic load of swine wastewater in integrated biological reactors UASB, SABF and HSSF-CW.

Journal of Environmental Management, 2020
The multivariate analysis to optimize the parameters of wastewater is essential to reduce costs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of multivariate and conventional analysis in biological system composed by upflow anaerobic sludge blanket ...

Production of biogas from cassava wastewater using a three-stage upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor

Renewable Energy, 2019
In this study, a three-stage upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) system was developed and tested for hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4) production from cassava wastewater with an emphasis on CH4 production.

Microaerated UASB reactor treating textile wastewater: The core microbiome and removal of azo dye Direct Black 22.

Chemosphere, 2019
Sequential anaerobic and aerobic processes have been recommended to treat textile wastewater reliably. In this work, the focus was on finding an energetically more competitive system to remove tetra-azo dye Direct Black 22 (DB22).

Histological Analysis of Microstructure of UASB Granules

Journal of Environmental Engineering, 1994
A histological method was demonstrated for the microscopic analysis of granules from upflow-anaerobic-sludge-blanket (UASB) reactors. Granules were first fixed with formaldehyde and embedded in paraffin, before being sectioned by a microtone to a thickness of 3–5 pm.

Treatment of Brewery Effluent by UASB Process

Journal of Environmental Engineering, 1990
A five-month pilot study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of the upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) process for the treatment of effluent from a brewery in rural China. Results indicate that the process operated at 26°C could reduce over 89% of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and 92% of five-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD\d5) from the ...
