Text Dependent Speaker Verification Using Un-Supervised HMM-UBM and Temporal GMM-UBM

open access: yesInterspeech 2016, 2016
In this paper, we investigate the Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and the temporal Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) systems based on the Universal Background Model (UBM) concept to capture temporal information of speech for Text Dependent (TD) Speaker Verification (SV). In TD-SV, target speakers are constrained to use only predefined fixed sentence/s during both

Evaluating the Effect of Tissue Selection on the Characteristics of Extracellular Matrix Hydrogels from Decellularized Porcine Bladders

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Porcine urinary bladder is one of the most used organs to fabricate extracellular matrix (ECM) hydrogel. Although there are two different ECM types inside a bladder, i.e., urinary bladder matrix (UBM) and a subtype ECM (sECM), most studies have only ...

Individual bird identification by modelling temporal structure in bioacoustic embeddings

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Identifying individual animals from vocalizations is an emerging research area in computational bioacoustics. This non‐invasive approach reduces reliance on physical capture and tagging for wildlife monitoring. Recent advances in this area leverage deep learning and bioacoustic foundation models adapted from species‐level classifiers. However,

Detecting community assembly filters in urban butterflies through analyses of non‐Gaussian trait distributions

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Ecological filters shape community assemblages. When filters lead to non‐Gaussian distributions—for example, asymmetric, uneven, multimodal—the community weighted mean is insufficient to characterise the community. Urban environments exert deterministic directional and stabilising assembly filters on functional communities in butterflies, with a higher

Ultrasound biomicroscopy: An overview

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ophthalmology and Research, 2014
Ultrasound biomicrosopy (UBM) is a technique used to visualize the anterior segment of the eye using high frequency ultrasound. It uses 35-50 MHz probe which has a resolution of 40 microns and a depth of penetration of 4 mm.

On the importance of shelter availability for reptiles provided by burrow‐digging ecosystem engineers: A systematic review and a case study

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
In this article, we show that ground burrows influenced reptile populations inconsistently across both the 5‐year field study in the Kiskunság and the broader systematic review, which together revealed positive, negative, and neutral effects across species and habitat types.
