PNIPAm-based microgels with a UCST response

Polymer, 2017
Abstract Thermoresponsive microgels with an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) response (i.e., showing volume expansion at higher temperature) are highly desirable for a variety of applications, but quite uncommon, in particular if they are to work in physiological conditions.

RAFT Synthesis in Water of Cationic Polyelectrolytes with Tunable UCST

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2015
Cationic polyelectrolytes showing an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) are synthesized by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization in water at a temperature well above the UCST. The polymerization is well controlled by the RAFT process, with excellent pseudo‐first‐order kinetics.

LCST and UCST behavior in polymer solutions and blends

Polymer, 2012
Abstract We introduce a model for polymer solutions and blends that display both an upper and a lower critical solution temperature (UCST, LCST). Using our simple analytic lattice theory along with a fixed parameter set independent of both composition and temperature, we study solutions and blends exhibiting complicated miscibility patterns ...
