The implementation of DTV is forcing every television broadcaster to purchase a new antenna. Choosing the best antenna to meet all of the station's needs is not a simple task. With tower space at a premium, tower leasing rates soaring, and FCC deadlines approaching quickly, the broadcaster faces new and non-traditional issues-for example: Do I co ...

The use of fractal antenna techniques to reduce the size of a UHF linear dipole is investigated and discussed. Fractal designs are derived using an empirical method and a genetic algorithm based method. While both achieve size reduction, the latter design shows the most promise from a size reduction and design methodology standpoint, since simulation ...

Broadband UHF flexible vivaldi antenna
2013 Loughborough Antennas & Propagation Conference (LAPC), 2013A novel Vivaldi flexible antenna with a -6 dB bandwidth from 150 MHz up to 900 MHz is presented. The whole antenna is realized on a 600 × 600 mm2 silicone foam substrate. In this paper we describe the design, the realization and the performances of this high gain and directive antenna.

Theoretical and experimental results have shown that a satellite repeater can be used to measure accurately transmit and receive gains of ground-communications antennas. The satellite provides a uniform phase front and, for any appreciable elevation angle, meets the height requirement as a boresight source for large-aperture antennas.

Loop-Fed Planar Inverted-L Antennas (PILAs) for Omnidirectional UHF on-Metal Tag Design
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2020A new type of tag antenna, which is made by placing four identical planar inverted-L antennas (PILAs) in rotational symmetry constellation, is proposed for designing a miniature on-metal tag antenna.

Exploiting Embroidered UHF RFID Antennas as Deformation Sensors
IEEE Journal of Radio Frequency Identification, 2020Textile-based antennas that can be embroidered directly onto cloth fabrics have shown great potentials for wearable applications. However, the performance of the embroidered antennas is significantly affected by the materials used, as well as the antenna’

Self-Tuning UHF Epidermal Antennas
2019 IEEE International Conference on RFID Technology and Applications (RFID-TA), 2019Epidermal sensors based on Radiofrequency Identification are suitable to be attached onto the skin like a thin and flexible plaster and allow collecting biophysical parameters with a high level of comfort for the user. When working in the UHF band (860-960 MHz), the on-skin antenna performance (impedance matching and the corresponding read distance) is

Online Partial Discharge Measurements in an Operating Generator Stator Winding Using UHF Antennas
IEEE transactions on dielectrics and electrical insulationOn stator windings, it is typical to perform online partial discharge (PD) measurements in the very high frequency (VHF) range using high-voltage capacitors to couple high-frequency currents, and in the ultra high frequency (UHF) range, using near-field ...
