There is a difficult time in the preparation of all book reviews. It comes between reading the book and finding a framework for penning the review. Of course, it is easy to write a formulaic review using who, what, where, when, and how well. But finding a challenging leitmotif that characterises a text is never easy. In this case, however, my leitmotif

Numerical simulations of electron–ion collisions in UHI plasmas
Computer Physics Communications, 2004Abstract Difficulties of numerical simulations of electron–ion collisions in plasmas irradiated by strong electromagnetic waves are discussed. It is shown that such simulations must have be performed with extremely high precision even in the pair-collision approach.

UHI studies for low carbon cities
2012District Heating (DH) / Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems are key planks of a low carbon city in colder climates. Heat mapping (HM) is a key tool to estimate the feasibility and efficacy of DH/CHP systems. HM involves mapping the current and future sources of heat against current and future demand for heat geographically. Current and future demands
