Java UI : Effects for Controlling UI Object Access [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Most graphical user interface (GUI) libraries forbid accessing UI elements from threads other than the UI event loop thread. Violating this requirement leads to a program crash or an inconsistent UI. Unfortunately, such errors are all too common in GUI programs.

Generative UI: LLMs are Effective UI Generators

open access: yesCoRR
AI models excel at creating content, but typically render it with static, predefined interfaces. Specifically, the output of LLMs is often a markdown "wall of text". Generative UI is a long standing promise, where the model generates not just the content, but the interface itself. Until now, Generative UI was not possible in a robust fashion.

Improving urban impervious surface extraction by synergizing hyperspectral and polarimetric radar data using sparse representation

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, 2022
Accurate extraction of urban impervious surface (UIS) is essential for urban planning and environmental monitoring. However, multispectral remote sensing data for UIS extraction suffers from the inter-class spectral confusions, e.g.

Global Burden of Key Components of Cardiovascular–Kidney–Metabolic Syndrome Among Women of Reproductive Age, 1990–2021

open access: yesJournal of Evidence-Based Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic (CKM) syndrome links metabolic, kidney, and cardiovascular disorders, but its burden among women of reproductive age (WRA) remains poorly understood. We quantified the global burden and trends of key CKM‐related conditions and high body mass index (BMI)‐attributable burden among WRA.

Intersex Across the Interstellar: The Andromeda Constellation in Medieval and Early Modern Astronomical and Astrological Treatises

open access: yesRenaissance Studies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines the iconography of the Andromeda constellation as an intersex figure within medieval and early modern astrological traditions. It focuses on the origins of this imagery in the thirteenth‐century astrological writings of Scot and its reappearance nearly three centuries later in Ratdolt's illustrated 1482 edition of Hyginus'

Calcium, methyl jasmonate and their combined foliar applications: Influence on Tempranillo grape amino acids composition over two seasons

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 12, Page 7380-7396, September 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Climate change is currently affecting chemical grape composition and, consequently, grape quality. The foliar application of biostimulants has emerged as a promising approach to mitigate these effects. This study investigated the effects of foliar applications of calcium (Ca), methyl jasmonate (MeJ), and their combination (Ca + MeJ)

Entrepreneurial State as a Creative Destroyer: Comparison of Hong Kong and Singapore's Creative Industries

open access: yesCreativity and Innovation Management, Volume 35, Issue 3, Page 555-569, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper explores the limits of mission‐directed entrepreneurial states by drawing on the theory of recombinant innovation and F.A. Hayek's insights on the spontaneous growth of knowledge in society. First, the use of discretionary policymaking curtails the range of knowledge generated in the process of social interaction, limiting the scope

Prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorders and the Years Lived With Disability in Eastern Sub‐Saharan Africa, From 1990 to 2023

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Using Global Burden of Disease 2023 data, a regional analysis of Eastern Sub‐Saharan Africa from 1990–2023 found that 4.24 million people lived with autism spectrum disorders, accounting for 0.81 million years lived with disability. Stable trends underscore the need for earlier diagnosis, standardized diagnosis and culturally appropriate interventions.

ReDemon UI: Reactive Synthesis by Demonstration for Web UI

open access: yesAdjunct Proceedings of the 38th Annual ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology
ReDemon UI synthesizes React applications from user demonstrations, enabling designers and non-expert programmers to create UIs that integrate with standard UI prototyping workflows. Users provide a static mockup sketch with event handler holes and demonstrate desired runtime behaviors by interacting with the rendered mockup and editing the sketch ...
