Local sensitivity analysis of a supercritical extraction model

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates the process of chamomile oil extraction from chamomile flowers. A parameter‐distributed model, consisting of a set of partial differential equations, was used to describe the governing mass transfer phenomena between solid and fluid phases under supercritical conditions using carbon dioxide as the solvent.

Restricted Tweedie stochastic block models

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The stochastic block model (SBM) is a widely used framework for community detection in networks, where the network structure is typically represented by an adjacency matrix. However, conventional SBMs are not directly applicable to an adjacency matrix that consists of nonnegative zero‐inflated continuous edge weights.

Reaction of N‐Ferrocenylcarbamates with Nitric Oxide: An Application for Detection of Inflammatory Sites In Vivo

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Nitric oxide induces decomposition of electron‐deficient aminoferrocene drugs 4 with formation of oxime 7, which is derived from the upper cyclopentadienyl ligand. Drugs 4 are not responsive to hydrogen peroxide. Based on the latter reaction, the fluorogenic probes are developed for detecting NO in cells and inflammation in vivo.

Ukrainian Onomastics II

open access: yesNames, 1966
ONOMASTIC SCIENCES IN UKRAINIA during the Stalin period were virtually non-existent. The works of pre-revolutionary scholars such as M. Maksymovyc, M. Sumcov, I. Franko and others, which occasionally were concerned with onomastics, were never republished there.

Archaeometric Analyses of Medieval Pottery from the Lower Danube Region, Romania

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
This study is about the pottery manufacturing in the Lower Danube region during the Early Medieval period (8th–10th c. AD). Optical microscopy, Particle induced X‐ray emission, and X‐ray diffraction analyses performed on 32 representative ceramic shards excavated at Pantelimonu de Sus, Constanţa County, Romania, provide clues on the raw materials and ...

On the Method of Harmonic Balance for Lumped‐Element Transformer Models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, EarlyView.
The steady‐state solution of a lumped‐element transformer model with a dry friction‐like hysteresis model depicting the magnetic core is of interest. The harmonic balance method efficiently solves this stiff system. We derive the harmonic balance algorithm, enhance it with performance and convergence improvements, and demonstrate its efficiency by ...
