Schematic diagram showing the potential mechanism of bigelovin on the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome Bigelovin may inhibit activated protein C kinase 1 (RACK1) by directly binding with cys168 of RACK1. Bigelovin thus prevents oligomerization of NLRP3 (NLRP3 active conformation) and subsequent assembly of NLRP3 inflammasome, blocking the activation of

Mycobacterium ulcerans infection: control, diagnosis, and treatment. [PDF]
The skin disease Buruli ulcer, caused by Mycobacterium ulcerans, is the third most common mycobacterial disease after tuberculosis and leprosy and mainly affects remote rural African communities. Although the disease is known to be linked to contaminated

History of Helicobacter pylori, duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer and gastric cancer.
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection underlies gastric ulcer disease, gastric cancer and duodenal ulcer disease. The disease expression reflects the pattern and extent of gastritis/gastric atrophy (i.e., duodenal ulcer with non-atrophic and gastric ...

Autologous plasma‐derived platelet‐rich fibrin (PRF) is prepared as a protective shield for mesenchymal stem cell spheroids (Sp‐MSCs). PRF forms a fibrin shield to protect Sp‐MSCs from the oxidative stress environment. The nutrients in PRF, particularly the α‐granules, can enhance the repair function of Sp‐MSCs.

Increased expression of two alternative spliced variants of CD1d molecule in human gastric cancer [PDF]
Background: CD1d presents glycolipid antigens to invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells. The role of CD1d in the development of peptic ulcer and gastric cancer has not been revealed, yet.

Risk Factors for Plantar Foot Ulcer Recurrence in Neuropathic Diabetic Patients
OBJECTIVE Recurrence of plantar foot ulcers is a common and major problem in diabetes but not well understood. Foot biomechanics and patient behavior may be important. The aim was to identify risk factors for ulcer recurrence and to establish targets for

A Refined Deep Learning Architecture for Diabetic Foot Ulcers Detection [PDF]
Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU) that affect the lower extremities are a major complication of diabetes. Each year, more than 1 million diabetic patients undergo amputation due to failure to recognize DFU and get the proper treatment from clinicians. There is an urgent need to use a CAD system for the detection of DFU.
