Management of Fractures of the Proximal Ulna
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 2013Proximal ulna fractures can be difficult to manage because of the elbow's complex anatomy. Advances in understanding elbow anatomy and biomechanics, however, have led to new insights. Careful preoperative evaluation is critical because failure to restore normal anatomy of the proximal ulna could have a detrimental effect on postoperative elbow function.

Isolated Diaphyseal Fractures of the Ulna
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2012HE PATIENT 64-year-old woman presents after an injury to her left ondominant forearm sustained while she was out of own on vacation. Three weeks ago she stumbled and truck her forearm on the edge of a step. She experinced local pain and mild swelling. Records from the acility where she was evaluated on the day of injury ndicate that there was no wound ...

Fractures of the proximal ulna olecranon and coronoid fractures
Hand Clinics, 2002Fractures of the proximal ulna present unique challenges to the surgeon because of the complexity of the elbow joint. It is important not to underestimate the potential difficulty of these cases and to give each one thorough preoperative consideration before embarking on a surgical course.

Fractures of the Coronoid Process of the Ulna
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2006The coronoid process is critical to elbow stability and is vulnerable during injury. Traumatic elbow injures are relatively uncommon, so it is important for surgeons to be mindful of the importance of specialized treatment of the coronoid for optimal elbow function.

Isolated fractures of the shaft of the ulna
Injury, 1974Abstract A review of 76 isolated fractures of the shaft of the ulna treated by various methods indicated that a forearm plaster was as satisfactory as an above-elbow plaster for the treatment of most fractures. Internal fixation using a 6-hole plate produced excellent results when used as an initial treatment, and promoted bony union when used for ...

Fractures of the Radius and Ulna
1984Fractures of the shafts of the radius and ulna are very common. They are probably the most usual forearm injuries to present in the casualty departments. Other quite common regions of the forearm bones to present with fractures are: the olecranon process the coronoid process the head of the radius the uppermost third of the ulna with dislocation of ...
