Born this way: Does variation in perinatal limb bone morphology predict adult locomotor repertoire in primates?

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Primates show a high degree of locomotor diversity that engenders similar variance in limb bone cross‐sectional geometry and bending strength: leaping primates have stronger hindlimb bones whereas suspensory species have stronger forelimb bones.

Demographic Patterns and Surgical Trends in Radius and Ulnar Fracture Nonunion: A TriNetX Database Review 2017-2022

open access: yesSurgiColl
# Objectives Understanding the population and demographic factors in the face of a rapidly changing demographic in the United States is critical to ensuring high-quality patient care and effectively guiding operative management of fracture nonunion ...

Effect of Long-Term Use of Bisphosphonates on Forearm Bone: Atypical Ulna Fractures in Elderly Woman with Osteoporosis

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2016
Osteoporosis is a common musculoskeletal disease of the elderly population characterized by decreased bone mineral density and subsequent fractures. Bisphosphonates are a widely accepted drug therapy which act through inhibition of bone resorption and ...

CHARACTERISTICS OF FOREARM RE-FRACTURE IN YOUTH ATHLETES

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2021
Background: The forearm is the most common site of fracture, and perhaps re-fracture, in the pediatric population. Although both bone forearm (BBFA) fractures represent approximately 30% of pediatric upper extremity fractures, little is known about BBFA ...

Scaling and ecomorphology of lagomorph body shape and appendicular skeleton

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Body shape is one of the most prominent features of phenotypic variation. Yet, mammalian body shapes are poorly quantified and the underlying components contributing to its diversity and its relationship to other skeletal components are rarely tested.

Local variation in age‐related cortical expansion within and between cross‐sections of distal human long bones

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Cortical bone expansion is an age‐related process where, through endosteal resorption and periosteal apposition, cross‐sectional diameter increases while cortical thickness decreases in long bone diaphyses. Local variation has been observed in this process between cross‐sectional locations, but few studies have examined directional variation ...

Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction Through a Mini‐Invasive Approach

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Posterolateral rotatory instability is the most common form of elbow instability, secondary to valgus, supination, and axial loading in elbow extension. The lateral ulnar collateral ligament (LUCL) is the primary restraint to posterolateral rotatory instability and multiple techniques of repair and reconstruction of the LUCL have been reported

Arthroscopic Anatomic Repair of the Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex Foveal Tears With Suture Anchors With Preservation of the Ligament Remnant

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract The deep layer of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (distal radioulnar ligament) serves as the primary stabilizer of the distal radioulnar joint. Historically, the deep triangular fibrocartilage complex was reattached to the ulnar fovea using bone tunnel or suture anchor techniques to achieve isometric repair.

Correlation between inner epiphysis ulna radius length ratio and prognosis of Monteggia fractures in children: a multicenter study

open access: yesScientific Reports
The forearm function in children is influenced by several factors, with the length relationship between the ulna and radius being particularly important.

Suture Augmented Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction: A Detailed Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Suture augmentation is frequently being used for medial ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) repair and many surgeons now augment UCL reconstructions with a high strength suture. This article and video describe the technique of suture augmented UCL reconstruction.
