Postcranial anatomy and osteohistology of an early prozostrodont cynodont from the Upper Triassic of Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Prozostrodon brasiliensis, a probainognathian cynodont of the clade Prozostrodontia, is recognized as a key taxon for understanding the origin of Mammaliaformes and mammals. Despite detailed investigations of its cranial anatomy, the postcranial skeleton has received comparatively less attention.

Ulnar Shortening Osteotomy for Ulnar Wrist Pain.

open access: yesOrthopedics & Traumatology, 1992
We reviewed the clinical symptoms and the radiographical findings of patients complaing of ulnar wrist pain and evaluated the results of ulnar shortening osteotomy for this disorder.Since 1988 10 patients had ulnar shortening osteotomy, nine male and one female, with an average age of 30.2 years (range: 14-66).

Arthroscopic Wafer Procedure for Ulnar Impaction Syndrome

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2014
Ulnar impaction syndrome is abutment of the ulna on the lunate and triquetrum that increases stress and load, causing ulnar-sided wrist pain. Typically, ulnar-positive or -neutral variance is seen on a posteroanterior radiograph of the wrist.

Evolutionary morphology of the haplorhine hamate

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Primates adopt a variety of hand postures during an impressive diversity of locomotor and manipulative behaviors. Morphological research has found that elements of the hand skeleton, such as the hamate, hold key information for inferring hand use and locomotor kinematics in extinct species.

Ultrasonography versus Electrodiagnostic Studies in Assessment of Ulnar Neuropathy in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Azhar International Medical Journal
Background: Ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow (UNE) is a common complication of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Timely diagnosis and intervention are essential to mitigate the risk of long-term complications.

Scaling and ecomorphology of lagomorph body shape and appendicular skeleton

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Body shape is one of the most prominent features of phenotypic variation. Yet, mammalian body shapes are poorly quantified and the underlying components contributing to its diversity and its relationship to other skeletal components are rarely tested.

Osteology of the pectoral girdle and forelimb of Siriusgnathus niemeyerorum, a Late Triassic traversodontid cynodont from Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Traversodontids are non‐mammaliaform cynodonts, herbivorous to omnivorous, that lived during the Triassic. In the Late Triassic, some members of this group increased in body size relative to other cynodont lineages and evolved postcranial adaptations associated with locomotion.

Ulnar Nerve Cross-sectional Area among Ulnar Neuropathy Patients and Healthy Subjects – A Study in Hospital-based Population of Eastern India

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Case Reports
Introduction: Ultrasound (US) examinations of the ulnar nerve and measurement of cross-sectional area (CSA) are now used to diagnose cases of ulnar neuropathy. However, the CSA values vary across the population. The present study was planned to prepare a

Local variation in age‐related cortical expansion within and between cross‐sections of distal human long bones

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Cortical bone expansion is an age‐related process where, through endosteal resorption and periosteal apposition, cross‐sectional diameter increases while cortical thickness decreases in long bone diaphyses. Local variation has been observed in this process between cross‐sectional locations, but few studies have examined directional variation ...

Bilateral hypermobility of ulnar nerves at the elbow joint with unilateral left ulnar neuropathy in a computer user: A case study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Occupational Medicine and Environmental Health, 2016
Occupational ulnar neuropathy at the elbow joint develops in the course of long term direct pressure on the nerve and a persistently flexed elbow posture, but first of all, it is strongly associated with “holding a tool in a certain position ...
