Balancing Students’ Privacy Concerns while Increasing Student Engagement in E-Learning Environments

open access: yes, 2013
The ultimate objective of any learning platform is student engagement with the material, instructor, and classmates. Little is currently known about students’ concerns regarding privacy, confidentiality, and information safety and the potential impact ...

Elementary solution to the time-independent quantum navigation problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A quantum navigation problem concerns the identification of a time-optimal Hamiltonian that realizes a required quantum process or task, under the influence of a prevailing ‘background’ Hamiltonian that cannot be manipulated.

Neotrance and the Psychedelic Festival

open access: yesDancecult: Journal of Electronic Dance Music Culture, 2009
This article explores the religio-spiritual characteristics of psytrance (psychedelic trance), attending specifically to the characteristics of what I call neotrance apparent within the contemporary trance event, the countercultural inheritance of the ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Assessing the readiness for electric vehicle adoption: A study of clean energy infrastructure and transformation in Ho Chi Minh City [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Zero-emission transportation is the ultimate goal for many countries around the world. The decreasing availability of fossil fuels and global climate change have compelled governments to take immediate action on energy transformation.

Mechanical Behavior and Fracture Mechanisms of MXene/PVDF Nanocomponsites: In Situ Characterization and Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...

Multimodal Soft Surgical Robots Enabled by Eco‐Degradable, Sterilizable Polymers and Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A compostable PGS soft surgical robot with interchangeable modules integrates transient Mo tactile and Si thermal sensors for dual feedback. The device preserves its function after clinical‐grade sterilization, demonstrates stable actuation and cardiac tissue grasping with real‐time in vivo pulsatile monitoring, and biodegrades post‐use with soil‐safe,

The Roman Catholic conceptualisation of morality: Its essence and distinctive character

open access: yesVerbum et Ecclesia
Over the course of its history Catholicism has generated several different conceptions of morality. The early medieval church conceived morality primarily in terms of caritas and other virtues, the modern church generated a legalistic conception of ...

Memristor‐Driven Active‐Matrix Organic Light‐Emitting Diode for Energy Efficient and High‐Resolution Displays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that memristors can replace conventional 2T–1C driving circuits with simplified 1T–1 m architectures by exploiting resistance switching. With ultra‐low switching voltages (< ±0.2 V) and multi‐level resistance states, the memristors precisely control the current injected into organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs).

ADAM SMITH ON JUSTICE, SOCIAL JUSTICE, AND ULTIMATE JUSTICE

open access: yes, 2017
:Adam Smith argues that virtue falls into two broad categories: “justice,” which he calls a “negative” virtue because it principally comprises restraint from harming or injuring others; and “beneficence,” which he calls “positive” because it comprises ...
