Turbulence strength in ultimate Taylor–Couette turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2017
We provide experimental measurements for the effective scaling of the Taylor–Reynolds number within the bulk $\mathit{Re}_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D706},\mathit{bulk}}$, based on local flow quantities as a function of the driving strength (expressed as the Taylor number $\mathit{Ta}$), in the ultimate regime of Taylor–Couette flow.

Ultimate Strength of Metals [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2020
We present a theoretical model that predicts the peak strength of polycrystalline metals based on the activation energy (or stress) required to cause deformation via amorphization. Building on extensive earlier work, this model is based purely on materials properties, requires no adjustable parameters, and is shown to accurately predict the strength of

Ultimate flexural strength of rectangular concrete‐filled steel tubular beam‐columns using high‐strength materials

open access: yesJapan Architectural Review, 2023
The ultimate flexural strength of concrete‐filled steel tubular (CFST) beam‐columns is calculated using the full‐plastic strength as per the “AIJ Recommendations for Design and Construction of Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Structures”.

Ultimate strength prediction of I-core sandwich plate based on BP neural network

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2022
Objectives In view of the incomplete evaluation of the ultimate strength of I-core sandwich panels in the past, a BP artificial neural network method is proposed to quantitatively determine the influence of relevant parameters on the ultimate strength of

On ultimate strength of an inland waterway barge [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2023
Due to the sudden nature of hull girder collapse caused by extreme loadings, the ultimate strength of ships, i.e., ultimate capacity, has to be evaluated.

Finite element analysis on the bond behavior of steel bar in salt–frost-damaged recycled coarse aggregate concrete

open access: yesReviews on Advanced Materials Science, 2021
In this article, the ABAQUS finite element software is used to simulate the bond behavior of the steel bar in salt–frost-damaged recycled coarse aggregate concrete, and the influence of the steel bar diameter and the concrete cover thickness on the bond ...
