Modeling Nonlinear Cyclic Load–Deformation Response of Corrosion‐Damaged Reinforced Concrete Columns

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents a lumped plasticity modeling method for simulating the nonlinear load–deformation response of corroded reinforced concrete (RC) columns with rectangular and circular cross‐sections. The proposed modeling method utilizes an extended column database to enhance the robustness of the database and considers cyclic degradation ...

A Macro‐Model for Simulating Gusset Plate Buckling in Buckling‐Restrained Braced Frame Buildings

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT 2D models, which are conventionally employed for the seismic performance assessment of buckling‐restrained braced frame (BRBF) buildings, are incapable of simulating the out‐of‐plane buckling of gusset plates. This study presents a novel 3D macro‐modelling approach capable of capturing the out‐of‐plane buckling of gusset plates in BRBFs.

Mechanical Mechanism of Surrounding Rock Failure and Stability Control for Gob‐Side Entry Driving Near an Advancing Working Face

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Taking the 5104 return airway of Checun Coal Mine as an example, this study visually summarises the main findings and methodologies of the research on surrounding rock control in gob‐side entry driving near an advancing working face. By establishing theoretical and numerical simulation analysis models, the stress distribution and plastic zone evolution

Mechanical Behavior and Response Characteristics of Overlying Strata in Remining Longwall Top‐Coal Caving Working Face

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the remining working face of thick coal seams, the instability of coal pillars near abandoned roadways can lead to advance fractures in the main roof, posing a significant threat to production safety. This study classifies roof collapse characteristics into four types and analyses the pillar instability mechanism using the Bieniawski ...

A New Stability Calculation Method for Displacement‐Resistance Landslides Based on the Slice Method Considering Progressive Failure

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A new stability calculation method for displacement‐resistance landslides based on the slice method. ABSTRACT The sliding process of the landslide is gradual, and it is impossible for all points on the sliding surface to be in the state of peak shear stress.
