Modeling the Ultimate Tensile Strength of Unidirectional Glass‐Matrix Composites
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2000The ultimate tensile strengths of a unidirectional glass‐matrix composite were measured as a function of fiber volume fraction. The results were compared with predictions, using a refined solution of the stress field generated by an axisymmetric damage model, which incorporated the effect of stress concentration in the fiber caused by the presence of a

Molecular Weight Distribution Ultimate Tensile Strength PVC Homopolymers
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1975<div class="htmlview paragraph">Ultimate tensile properties are examples of a physical property which is relatable to the molecular weight of a polymer. Dilute solution viscosities of vinyl chloride homopolymers have classically been used to obtain an average molecular weight - tensile relationship. However, dilute solution viscosity measurements

Tensile Strength and Ultimate Elongation of Rubber-Fibrous Compositions
International Journal of Polymeric Materials and Polymeric Biomaterials, 1980Abstract Data are presented which show that the mechanism of fracture in rubber-fiber composites is governed by the adhesion of the matrix material to the fiber as well as the strength of the matrix. Degree of orientation of the fiber is also important.

Evaluation of ultimate tensile strength using Miniature Disk Bend Test
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2015Abstract Correlations for evaluation of Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) using Miniature Disk Bend Test (MDBT) or Small Punch Test (SPT) has been an open issue since the development of the techniques. The larger plastic strains, in tri-axial state of stress during SPT, make the translation to the equivalent uniaxial parameter less certain ...

Surface-induced size-dependent ultimate tensile strength of thin films
Physics Letters A, 2015Abstract The surface eigenstress model was further developed to study the surface-induced size-dependent ultimate biaxial tensile strength of thin films. First-principles calculations and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were conducted on Au and Si thin films with different thicknesses.

Study of Ultimate Tensile Strength of Borosilicate Reinforced Metal Matrix Composite
Advanced Science, Engineering and Medicine, 2020Application of composite materials are increasing remarkably because of its much advantage compared to base matrix alloys properties like reduced weight, increasing strength, increasing wear resistance capacity etc. Reinforcement particles play a very important role for preparing metal matrix composite and ultimately improve its properties.

Effect of Gamma Irradiation on Ultimate Tensile Strength of Enamel and Dentin
Journal of Dental Research, 2009The effect of gamma irradiation therapy on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of enamel and dentin in relation to prism orientation, dentin tubule orientation, and location is unknown. It was hypothesized that tubule and prism orientation, location, and irradiation have an effect on the UTS of dental structures.

Ultimate tensile strength of gamma irradiated human scleral sutures.
Canadian journal of ophthalmology. Journal canadien d'ophtalmologie, 1977Scleral sutures were prepared by hand from the equatorial region of 53 paired donor eyes. The weakening produced by two doses of gamma Co-60 radiation (2.7 and 4.0 Mrads) was compared using measurements of tensile strength; the strength of unirradiated scleral sutures was also measured, for comparison.

Measurement of the tensile properties of high strength woven and knit fabrics, including geotextiles and geogrids traditionally make use of roller grip-type clamping systems. These grips are designed to allow a sample to be pulled in tension without applying an excessive crimping or compressive force on the specimen, thus avoiding premature failure ...
