P.50 Radial Artery Phenotyping in Fibromuscular Dysplasia Through Ultra-High Frequency Ultrasound: A Radiomic Approach

open access: yesArtery Research, 2020
Rationale and Aim: This study is aimed at identifying possible patterns of vascular wall disarray and remodeling in radial arteries of patients with fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD), by means of ultrahigh frequency ultrasound (UHFUS).

Gene expression changes in therapeutic ultrasound-treated venous leg ulcers

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2023
IntroductionLow-frequency, low-intensity ultrasound has been previously shown to promote healing of chronic wounds in humans, but mechanisms behind these effects are poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to evaluate gene expression differences

A new approach for improving coronary plaque component analysis based on intravascular ultrasound images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Virtual histology intravascular ultrasound (VH-IVUS) is a clinically available technique for atherosclerosis plaque characterization. It, however, suffers from a poor longitudinal resolution due to electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated acquisition.

MnI‐Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework as Efficient Electrocatalyst for CO2 Reduction in a Catholyte‐Free Zero‐Gap Electrolyzer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates the successful integration of a phenanthroline‐based 2D COF with MnI catalytic sites into a catholyte‐free membrane‐electrode‐assembly cell for CO2 electroreduction. The crystalline COF actively suppresses Mn⁰–Mn⁰ dimerization, achieving a turnover frequency of 617 h⁻¹ at 2.8 V (full‐cell potential), and enabling stable operation.

Integration of high-frequency ultrasound with the Global Acne Grading System for prediction of treatment efficiency in acne vulgaris [PDF]

open access: yesUltrasonography
Purpose This study aimed to establish a novel acne scoring system (GAGS-HFUS) that combined the Global Acne Grading System (GAGS) with high-frequency ultrasound (HFUS), and to evaluate its predictive value for unfavorable treatment response in patients ...

Determinants of vascular structure and function in at-risk children born to mothers managed for pre-eclampsia (FINNCARE study)

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2023
Background and aimPre-eclampsia (PE) is related to elevated blood pressure (BP) in children. The study aims to investigate if elevated BP is reflected in child arterial health and how anthropometrics, body composition, and gestational and perinatal ...

Radioactive Needlework, Reconstruction of needle-positions in radiation treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Nucletron presented a medical problem to the SWI 2006: how to find needles used for cancer treatment in a prostate? More concretely: how to find the positions of these needles from distorted images from an ultrasound probe?

Synthetic vascular ultrasound imaging through coupled fluid-structure interaction and ultrasound simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Although ultrasonic imaging is commonly applied in cardiovascular research and clinical practice, current blood flow and vessel wall imaging methods are still hampered by several limitations.

Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Biosensor Based on Hairy Particles with Controllable High Enzyme Loading and Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
For the first time, a highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor based on SiO2‐based hairy particles with a grafted PDMAEMA polymer brush containing a quantifiable and large amount of immobilized Laccase is reported. The fabricated biosensor exhibits a sensitivity of 0.14 A·m⁻¹, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 µm, and a detection range of 0.3–750 µm,

Effects of ultrasound on polymeric foam porosity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A variety of materials require functionally graded cellular microstructures whose porosity is engineered to meet specific applications (e.g. mimic bone structure for orthopaedic applications; fulfil mechanical, thermal or acoustic constraints in ...
