Concepts for Ultra Low Emission Vehicles

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1994
<div class="htmlview paragraph">To achieve low emission levels, the handicap of the TWC is its light-off characteristic. It achieves a maximum hot efficiency of nearly 100 %, but this requires a temperature in the range of 300 to 450 °C. To improve this time lag after cold start, the TWC needs additional help to reach the targets of future low ...

Developing the Truck Engine for Ultra Low Emissions

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 1991
Environmental concerns dictate that the heavy duty automotive diesel engine will have to comply with increasingly more stringent exhaust emission standards. Nowhere are these standards more stringent than the 1991–94 USA requirements. Meeting these standards in production and during the engine's useful life, while maintaining or improving engine ...

Ultra-Low Emissivity Alpha-Particle Detection

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2012
New alpha counters make accurate measurements of low emissivity samples possible. Modeling results set lower limits for measurements at sea level of silicon substrates to about 0.3 α/khr-cm2. Our measurements demonstrate the effect of cosmic ray shielding on the measured alpha-particle emissivity.

Ultra-low Emission Medium Speed Engine for EU Stage V

MTZ worldwide, 2021
New environmental regulations and “green” investors push to reduce emissions from medium speed marine engines to the low levels introduced for non-road machinery engines. To this end, the DZC engine family from Anglo Belgian Corporation was combined with a Hug Engineering diesel particulate filter and a selective catalytic reduction system yielding ...

Ultra-Low Emission Liquid Nitrogen Automobile

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1999
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Means to extend the range of cryogen (liquid nitrogen or liquid air) powered automobiles via burning a small amount of fossil fuel (gasoline or liquid methane) have been investigated. By utilizing both an ambient air-heat exchanger to vaporize the cryogen and a fossil fuel-fired superheater to elevate the ...

Studies on Emission Measurement Techniques for Super-Ultra Low Emission Vehicles

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2002
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The accuracy and precision of exhaust gas mass emission measurement has recently come under close scrutiny as the absolute mass emission level has become lower. The uncertainty of the mass emission measurement can not be defined simply as it is a combination of many parameters in the measurement system.

Emission characteristics of fine particulate matter from ultra-low emission power plants

Environmental Pollution, 2019
As one of the highest energy consuming and polluting industries, the power generation industry is an important source of particulate matter emissions. Recently, implementation of ultra-low emission technology has changed the emission characteristic of fine particulate matter (PM2.5).

Development of an Ethanol-Fueled Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A 1993 Ford Taurus Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV) designed to operate on gasoline or methanol has been modified to run on Ed85 (85 vol.% denatured ethanol, 15 vol.% gasoline) and has demonstrated the ability to meet California's Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) standards.

Research on The Ultra-Low Emission Technology in Internal Combustion Engine

Journal of Automotive Powertrain and Transportation Technology, 2023
Increasing the efficiency of internal combustion engines is a technologically proven and cost effective approach to dramatically improving the fuel economy of the nation’s fleet of vehicles in the near- to midterm, with the corresponding benefits of reducing our dependence on foreign oil and reducing carbon emissions. This review paper discusses on the
