Parametric analysis and performance prediction of an ultra-low temperature cascade refrigeration freezer based on an artificial neural network

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
A thermodynamic analysis is proposed to improve the designing and operating parameters in an ultra-low temperature cascade refrigeration system (CRS). The expressions for predicted parameters of the CRS are obtained based on an artificial neural network (ANN) method.

Support‐Controlled Reaction Pathways via Dynamic Sulfur‐Mediated Interfaces for Selective Urea Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur‐doped graphitized carbon nanofibers act as adaptive catalyst–support platforms, enabling dynamic sulfur‐mediated reconstruction and strong metal–support interactions. This unique behavior enhances catalyst stability and controls reaction pathways, achieving highly selective urea oxidation (∼92% N2) coupled with efficient hydrogen evolution ...

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward

Wood Cellulosic Membrane With Abundant Nanochannels for Stabilizing Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐derived cellulosic membrane separator is developed to suppress dendrite growth in aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. Its aligned nanochannels and hydroxyl‐rich surfaces enable uniform Zn2+ flux, water immobilization, and interfacial stabilization. Zn||Zn cells achieve 1920 h of cycling, Zn||Cu cells maintain 99.5% Coulombic efficiency over 1000 cycles,

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Effects of Serum Stored at Various Temperature and FreezeThaw Cycles on Selected Biochemical Parameters

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: Preanalytical variation as a result of sample storage conditions are common issues in a large scale study since the sample has to be kept for an extended duration at ultra low temperature (-70ºC) before analysis. However, ultra low freezers
