Ultra-Wideband Microwave Absorption by Design and Optimization of Metasurface Salisbury Screen

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, we have designed an ultra-wideband electromagnetic (EM) absorber based on the concept of metasurface Salisbury screen (MSS), which features low profile, light weight, simple configuration, and robust angular performance.

An Ultra-Wideband Vivaldi Antenna System for Long-Distance Electromagnetic Detection

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Enlarging or reducing the antenna beam width of antennas can improve the positioning capability of detection systems. A miniaturized and easily fabricated ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna system for long-distance electromagnetic detection is proposed in this

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Electrically Tunable Heliconical Smectic Superstructure in Polar Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Strong dipole–dipole interactions give rise to an emergent polar smectic phase with spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking. This resulting polar heliconical smectic superstructure enables novel functionalities in polar fluids, such as color modulation driven by electric field strength and frequency, as well as second‐harmonic generation amplification ...

An Ultra-thin Compact Wideband Metamaterial Absorber [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2018
This article reports an ultra-thin, compact metamaterial absorber with wideband absorption at microwave frequencies. The proposed structure contains circular and rectangular split rings, and is ultra-thin of 0.049λ0 thickness with respect to the center ...

Design of a Compact CPW-Fed Monopole Antenna With Asymmetrical Hexagonal Slot Loaded Ground Structure for C/X/Ku Band Applications

open access: yesElectrical, Control and Communication Engineering, 2020
A novel design of ultra-wideband CPW-fed compact monopole patch antenna is presented in the article. The size of the antenna is 22 × 18 × 1.6 mm and it operates well over an ultra-wideband frequency range 4.86–13.66 GHz (simulated) and 4.93–13.54 GHz ...

Far‐Infrared Hyperbolic Phonon–Polaritons in Zirconium Disulfide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An unpatterned ZrS2${\rm ZrS}_2$ flake, coupled to far‐field infrared light by metal nanoribbons, reveals hyperbolic phonon polaritons with multiple higher‐order branches and effective refractive indices up to 223. This resonator‐assisted approach establishes ZrS2${\rm ZrS}_2$ as a compact van der Waals platform for deeply subwavelength far‐infrared ...

Compressive sensing for ultra‐wideband channel estimation: on the sparsity assumption of ultra‐wideband channels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Communication Systems, 2013
SUMMARYDue to the sparse structure of ultra‐wideband (UWB) multipath channels, there has been a considerable amount of interest in applying the compressive sensing (CS) theory to UWB channel estimation. The main consideration of the related studies is to propose different implementations of the CS theory for the estimation of UWB channels, which are ...
