Life with a Svedberg Ultracentrifuge
Trends in Biochemical Sciences, 1977Abstract In his final article on the Svedberg Ultracentrifuge A. G. Ogston looks back on some of the problems and accidents that beset the machine and its operators and also talks about life in Oxford's Biochemistry Department during the machine's heyday.

Ultracentrifugation for Coagulation Testing
2023Lipemia is known to potentially affect coagulation testing. It may be detected with newer coagulation analyzers that are validated to assess hemolysis, icterus, and lipemia (HIL) in a plasma sample. In samples with lipemia where accuracy of the test result is compromised, strategies for mitigating the lipemia interferences would be required.

[6] Sequential flotation ultracentrifugation
1986Publisher Summary Plasma lipoproteins have lower hydrated densities relative to the other plasma proteins; therefore sequential flotation ultracentrifugation has been the principal method used for their isolation and classification. This chapter describes the sequential flotation ultracentrifugation method and some important features for the proper ...

Ultracentrifugal compression of gels
Biopolymers, 1976AbstractIt has been observed that the amount of water associated with casein micelles is markedly higher when measured by intrinsic viscosity than by water content of the pelleted casein. A possible explanation of this discrepancy is that water is squeezed out of the pellet by the ultracentrifugal field.
