Dynamically probing ultracold lattice gases via Rydberg molecules

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
We show that the excitation of long-range Rydberg molecules in a three-dimensional optical lattice can be used as a position- and time-sensitive probe for doubly occupied sites in the system.

Chemical reactivity of ultracold polar molecules: investigation of H + HCl and H + DCl collisions

open access: yes, 2004
Quantum scattering calculations are reported for the H+HCl(v,j=0) and H+DCl(v,j=0) collisions for vibrational levels v=0-2 of the diatoms. Calculations were performed for incident kinetic energies in the range 10-7 to 10-1 eV, for total angular momentum ...

A Zeeman slower for diatomic molecules

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We present a novel slowing scheme for beams of laser-coolable diatomic molecules reminiscent of Zeeman slowing of atomic beams. The scheme results in efficient compression of the one-dimensional velocity distribution to velocities trappable by magnetic ...

Photoassociative creation of ultracold heteronuclear 6Li40K* molecules

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the formation of weakly bound, electronically excited, heteronuclear 6Li40K* molecules by single-photon photoassociation in a magneto-optical trap.

Fermi Condensates

open access: yes, 2005
Ultracold atomic gases have proven to be remarkable model systems for exploring quantum mechanical phenomena. Experimental work on gases of fermionic atoms in particular has seen large recent progress including the attainment of so-called Fermi ...

Dispersion interactions and reactive collisions of ultracold polar molecules

open access: yes, 2010
Progress in ultracold experiments with polar molecules requires a clear understanding of their interactions and reactivity at ultra-low collisional energies.

Tuning ultracold collisions of excited rotational dipolar molecules

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
We investigate the ultracold collisions of rotationally excited dipolar molecules in free-space, taking the hetero-nuclear bi-alkali molecule of KRb as an example.

Ultracold interactions between ions and polar molecules

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We propose a platform for observing and controlling the interactions between atomic ions and a quantum gas of polar molecules in the ultracold regime.
