The effect of boson–boson interaction on the bipolaron formation
Impurities immersed into a surrounding ultra-cold Bose gas experience interactions mediated by the surrounding many-body environment. If one focuses on two impurities that are sufficiently close to each other, they can form a bipolaron pair.

Velocity-dependent quantum phase slips in 1D atomic superfluids [PDF]
Quantum phase slips are the primary excitations in one-dimensional superfluids and superconductors at low temperatures but their existence in ultracold quantum gases has not been demonstrated yet.

Ultracold quantum gases and lattice systems: quantum simulation of lattice gauge theories [PDF]
Abelian and non‐Abelian gauge theories are of central importance in many areas of physics. In condensed matter physics, Abelian U(1) lattice gauge theories arise in the description of certain quantum spin liquids.

Single-Atom Quantum Probes for Ultracold Gases Boosted by Nonequilibrium Spin Dynamics [PDF]
Quantum probes are atomic-sized devices mapping information of their environment to quantum mechanical states. By improving measurements and at the same time minimizing perturbation of the environment, they form a central asset for quantum technologies ...

Spin noise spectroscopy to probe quantum states of ultracold fermionic atomic gases [PDF]
Ultracold alkali atoms provide experimentally accessible model systems for probing quantum states that manifest themselves at the macroscopic scale. Recent experimental realizations of superfluidity in dilute gases of ultracold fermionic (half-integer ...

A dark state of Chern bands: Designing flat bands with higher Chern number
We introduce a scheme by which flat bands with higher Chern number $\vert C\vert>1$ can be designed in ultracold gases through a coherent manipulation of Bloch bands.

Contact interaction in an unitary ultracold Fermi gas [PDF]
An ultracold Fermi atomic gas at unitarity presents universal properties that in the diluted limit can be well described by a contact interaction. By employing a guide function with correct boundary conditions and making simple modifications to the ...

Quantum fluctuations of vortex lattices in ultracold gases [PDF]
We discuss the effects of quantum fluctuations on the properties of vortex lattices in rapidly rotating ultracold atomic gases. We develop a variational method that goes beyond the Bogoliubov theory by including the effects of interactions between the quasiparticle excitations.

Disordered quantum gases under control [PDF]
When attempting to understand the role of disorder in condensed-matter physics, one faces severe experimental and theoretical difficulties and many questions are still open.

Quantum measuring processes for trapped ultracold bosonic gases [PDF]
The standard experimental techniques usually adopted in the study of the behaviour of ultracold atoms in optical lattices involve extracting the atom density profile from absorption images of the atomic sample after trap release. Quantum mechanically this procedure is described by a generalized measure (POVM); interference patterns found in absorption ...
