Water removal during automated peritoneal dialysis assessed by remote patient monitoring and modelling of peritoneal tissue hydration

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Water removal which is a key treatment goal of automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) can be assessed cycle-by-cycle using remote patient monitoring (RPM).

Production of probiotic Bulgarian yoghurts obtained from an ultrafiltered cow’s milk

open access: yesIrish Journal of Agricultural and Food Research, 2021
Ultrafiltration of skim cow’s milk with a UF10-PAN membrane at volume reduction ratios (VRRs) of 2 and 3 was performed. The ultrafiltration retentates obtained were used for production of probiotic yoghurts with three different starters. A control sample

Investigating Ultrafiltration Membranes and Operation Modes for Improved Lentiviral Vector Processing

open access: yesEngineering in Life Sciences
The demand for lentiviral vectors (LVs) as tools for ex vivo gene therapies is ever‐increasing. Despite their promising applications, challenges in LV production remain largely due to the fragile envelope, which challenges the maintenance of vector ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Single‐Step Recovery of Water from Stable Crude Oil‐Water Emulsion Using Surface Engineered Hybrid Inorganic‐Polymer Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic layer deposition is used to conformally surface engineer polymeric membranes to fabricate inorganic–organic hybrid membranes. These membranes have exceptionally strong attraction toward water even in high oil containing emulsions, which leads to an extremely strong hydration layer at the interface.
