Microspherules Formed by Lightning Strikes

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Natural microspherules are formed by high‐temperature processes and are present throughout the geologic record to the present day. We report the discovery of large numbers of microspherules recovered from a rock pavement in the Pilbara region, Western Australia.

Plagioclasites from chromite-bearing ultramafic rocks of the Rai-Iz massif

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2016
The corundum-bearing and without-corundum plagioclasites from chromite-bearing ultramafic rocks of Rai-Iz massif were studied. Chemical composition of the rock-forming minerals and rock geochemical characteristics was determined.

Neoproterozoic ultramafic and mafic magmatism in the Eastern Cordillera of the central peruvian Andes: the Tapo Massif [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A highly dismembered assemblage of ultramafic and mafic rocks is exposed in the Eastern Cordillera of the Central Peruvian Andes, extending along a discontinuous NW-SE belt over some 250 km between 12° and 9° S of latitude.

Evolution Model for the Paleoproterozoic Talvivaara Mudstone‐Hosted Ni‐Zn‐Cu‐Co Deposit in Fennoscandia

open access: yesTerra Nova, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Paleoproterozoic Talvivaara mudstone is a very large sulfidic Ni‐Co deposit that records enhanced organic matter accumulation during the global Shunga Event. Here, rock geochemistry and microscale S and Fe isotope composition of in situ pyrrhotites and pyrites are studied in well‐characterised, well‐preserved drill core samples.

The Kylmäkoski nickel-copper deposit in south-western Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1980
The Kylmäkoski sulfide Ni-Cu deposit is located in southwestern Finland in the WNW trending Pori-Kylmäkoski nickel belt which contains several other sulfide Ni-Cu occurrences besides Kylmäkoski. The original reserves of the Kylmäkoski ore were ca.

Mafic-ultramafic and quartz-rich rock indices deduced from ASTER thermal infrared data using a linear approximation to the Planck function

open access: yes, 2014
ASTER thermal infrared (TIR) data are widely used to detect mafic–ultramafic rock and quartz-rich rock, and several rock indices have been proposed based on emissivity features.
