Discovery of Blueschists in the Medvednica Mountain (Northern Croatia) and Their Significance for the Interpretation of the Geotectonic Evolution of the Area

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2010
Blueschists were discovered in the metamorphic rocks of the Medvednica mountain. Two varieties of blueschists are recognised, one with garnets and another with omphacite.

Petrogenesis of ultramafic rocks with abyssal peridotite affinity from the Central Bundelkhand Craton, India

open access: yesGeosystems and Geoenvironment
The Bundelkhand craton in India preserves important records of archean geological evolution, where several ultramafic rocks belonging to the Babina Greenstone Belt (BGB) occur as isolated and oval shaped bodies.

Release of potassium from rock powder by the yeast Torulaspora globosa

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2012
The alteration of minerals in rocks and the availability of elements for plant nutrition require long periods of time, and microorganisms are thought to induce the release of potassium and phosphate from rocks.

Neoproterozoic ultramafic and mafic magmatism in the Eastern Cordillera of the central peruvian Andes: the Tapo Massif

open access: yes, 2010
A highly dismembered assemblage of ultramafic and mafic rocks is exposed in the Eastern Cordillera of the Central Peruvian Andes, extending along a discontinuous NW-SE belt over some 250 km between 12° and 9° S of latitude.

Changing Sources of Magma Generation Beneath Intra-Oceanic Islands Arcs: An Insight From the Juvenile Kohistan Island Arc, Pakistan Himalaya

open access: yes, 2006
The Kohistan arc, situated in the Pakistan Himalaya, is a Cretaceous intraoceanic island arc which was initiated during the northward movement of the Indian Plate. The arc was sutured to Asia at ca. 100 Ma.

Skeletal, microspinifex and harrisite textures in the Upper Paleozoic komatiitic sills and lavas from the Mashhad-Virani Complex, NE Iran

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2019
Introduction The Mashhad- Virani complex has been sandwiched between the collided Lut block and Turan plate. This complex is composed of the following four units: 1) ultramafic-mafic rocks, 2) metamorphosed sedimentary rocks, 3) pyroclastic rocks and 4)

Plagioclasites from chromite-bearing ultramafic rocks of the Rai-Iz massif

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2016
The corundum-bearing and without-corundum plagioclasites from chromite-bearing ultramafic rocks of Rai-Iz massif were studied. Chemical composition of the rock-forming minerals and rock geochemical characteristics was determined.

A Coupled Chemohydraulic Model of a Hydration Experiment

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 10, Page 4284-4294, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This article presents a model for the hydration of periclase into brucite during water infiltration into a dry, pure periclase core. The hydration process proceeds in two stages. In Phase I, an infiltration front advances through the core while simultaneously triggering the hydration reaction.
