Design of ultrasonic probes for medical diagnostics

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
The Mason's equivalent circuit of the piezoelectric transducer is modified in order to investigate separately the influence of parameters of piezoelectric material as well as electrical and acoustical elements applied in the ultrasonic probe.

Mechanochemistry‐Assisted Solvent‐Free Supramolecular Engineering for Atomic‐Layered Carbon Nitride Nanosheets with Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A solvent‐free mechanochemistry‐enabled supramolecular engineering strategy is developed to directly synthesize covalent‐interconnected two‐dimensional atomic‐layered carbon nitride nanosheets photocatalyst, bypassing conventional top‐down exfoliation requirements.

Noninvasive evaluation of the elasticity of common carotid artery wall

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
The elasticity of common carotid arteries was examined on the basis of noninvasive ultrasonic measurements of the diameter of the carotid artery and the systlic and diastolic pressures as determined by a cuff on the brachial artery. The measurements were

On the directionality of membrane coupled Helmholtz resonators under open air conditions

open access: yesScientific Reports
Controlling the absorption and diffusion of sound in the audible range constitutes an exciting field of research. Acoustic absorbers and diffusers perform extraordinarily well at high frequencies with sizes comparable to the wavelength of the working ...

Concepts for interrelating ultrasnic attenuation, microstrucutre and fracture toughness in polycrystalline solids [PDF]

open access: yes
Conceptual models are advanced for explaining and predicting empirical correlations found between ultrasonic measurements and fracture toughness of polycrystalline solids.

Miniature Nanomesh Mechano‐Acoustic Sensor with Wide Linear Dynamic Range, Broad Bandwidth, and Flat Frequency Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized mechano‐acoustic sensor is developed using an electrospun PVDF nanomesh as the diaphragm in a capacitive sensor structure. Unlike conventional nanomesh‐based sensors, it achieves high linear sensitivity, a broad and flat frequency response, and a compact form factor.

Design principles of transducers with matching layers based on admittance measurements

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
Basing on modified Mason's equivalent circuit of an acoustic probe the authors carried out the computation of admittances and pulses reflected from the ideal reflector immersed in water.

Intravascular ultrasonic imaging.

open access: yesTexas Heart Institute journal, 1990
Because conventional imaging methods are inadequate for evaluating human coronary arteries in vivo, an intravascular ultrasonic imaging catheter was developed that allows the arterial wall to be studied in cross-section from within the artery. The catheter incorporates a mechanically rotating 20-MHz transducer, which is designed so that the ringdown ...
