Measurement Models for Ultrasonic Arrays
2014In the previous two chapters we showed how the response of a pair of send-receive array elements can be modeled in terms of two components: (1) a system function that describes all the electrical and electromechanical parts of the elements and their driving/receiving sub-systems, and (2) an acoustic/elastic transfer function that describes all the ...

Boosting the application of ultrasonic arrays
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2002The strategy currently pursued at IZFP to open a wider field of applications for ultrasonic arrays is described. A bundle of measures is performed to reduce the costs and at the same time to improve the capabilities and the reliability of ultrasonic array systems.

Ultrasonic phased array controller for hyperthermia applications
Ultrasonics, 1991Multiple and mechanically scanned ultrasound transducer systems have demonstrated the efficacy of using ultrasound to produce deep localized hyperthermia. The use of ultrasonic phased arrays has been proposed as an alternative to these systems. A phased array offers a more flexible approach to heating tumours in that the size, shape, and position of ...

Ultrasonic imaging using arrays
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1979An analysis is presented of the two general types of arrays-the direct imaging array and the phased array. These are analyzed over three levels of approximation: geometric optics, steady-state sinusoidal diffraction, and wide-band diffraction. Systems are studied which provide electronic deflection and focusing.

High-resolution beam forming for ultrasonic arrays
IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation, 1996Array processing techniques are common in radar, sonar, and medical ultrasound. However, little work has been reported on the use of array processing with airborne ultrasound. This paper describes the application of array beam forming to airborne ultrasound.
