Efficiency of ultrasonic treatment of polysaccharide from brown algae

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta, 2021
Ultrasonic exposure can be used for depolymerization of brown algae polysaccharides. However, its effectiveness depends on several factors, including cavitation activity in the treatment medium.

The study of surface processes under electrochemical control in the presence of inertial cavitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In some circumstances, the erosive effects of inertial (transient) cavitation have been usefully employed in the acceleration of chemical processes that are dependent on surface reactions.

Ultrasonic vibrations and coal permeability: Laboratory experimental investigations and numerical simulations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology, 2017
Ultrasonic vibrations in coal lead to cavitation bubble oscillation, growth, shrinkage, and collapse, and the strong vibration of cavitation bubbles not only makes coal pores break and cracks propagate, but plays an important role in enhancing the ...

Ultrasonic synthesis of hydroxyapatite in non-cavitation and cavitation modes

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2018
The size control of materials is of great importance in research and technology because materials of different size and shape have different properties and applications. This paper focuses on the synthesis of hydroxyapatite in ultrasound fields of different frequencies and intensities with the aim to find the conditions which allow control of the ...

A radial mode ultrasonic horn for the inactivation of Escherichia coli K12 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Tuned cylindrical radial mode ultrasonic horns offer advantages over ultrasonic probes in the design of flow-through devices for bacterial inactivation. This study presents a comparison of the effectiveness of a radial horn and probe in the inactivation ...

Dissolved gas and ultrasonic cavitation – A review

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2013
The physics and chemistry of nonlinearly oscillating acoustic cavitation bubbles are strongly influenced by the dissolved gas in the surrounding liquid. Changing the gas alters among others the luminescence spectrum, and the radical production of the collapsing bubbles.

Experimental investigation on the ultrasonic impregnation of wood through measurements of the intensity of sonoluminescence

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2022
Ultrasonic impregnation is thought to be an effective way of permeation of liquid into material through the material-surface reforming with the attack by an ultrasonic cavitation jet or by the shock wave emitted from a collapsing bubble, or through ...

Ultrasonic cavitation in thin liquid layers

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2005
The generation of ultrasonic cavitation in a thin liquid layer trapped between a large radiating surface and a hard reflector and bounded laterally by a gas-liquid interface is investigated. The theoretical analysis predicts that a large amplification of the acoustical pressure is obtained with this configuration.
