Passive Directional Water Transport on Superhydrophobic Gradient Textures Fabricated by Direct Laser Interference Patterning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Microstructures fabricated by two‐beam DLIP combining spatial‐period and roughness gradients are fabricated to enhance directional transport of water droplets. The coupled gradients increase transport distance by 160% and strongly suppress motion against the gradient, demonstrating an effective strategy for controlled droplet manipulation.

Lagrangian measurements of turbulent dissipation over a shallow tidal flat from pulse coherent Acoustic Doppler Profilers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present high resolution (25 mm spatial, 8 Hz temporal) profiles of velocity measured over a shallow tidal flat using pulse-coherent Acoustic Doppler Profilers mounted on surface drifters.

Unveiling the Hidden Geometry of OECTs: Contact‐Semiconductor Overlap Driven Errors in Volumetric Capacitance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work examines how contact–semiconductor overlap influences volumetric capacitance extraction in organic electrochemical transistors as device dimensions shrink. It shows that neglecting overlap leads to systematic, geometry‐driven errors in capacitance values.

Position and velocity recovery from independent ultrasonic beacons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we present a study on how to estimate the position of a mobile receiver using ultrasonic beacons fixed in the environment. Unlike traditional approaches, the ultrasonic beacons are independent, and positioning is performed by measuring the ...

ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF TRANSDUCER FREQUENCY ON THE ULTRASONIC MEASUREMENT OF CONCRETE HOMOGENEITY

open access: yesActa Polytechnica CTU Proceedings, 2019
The paper analyses the influence of transducer frequency on the determination of concrete homogeneity using the ultrasonic pulse velocity test. Transit time measurements were made on a 590×590mm concrete slab, with 110mm in thickness, in a raster of 5×5 ...

Upscaling Pulsed Laser Fragmentation in Liquids by Advanced Free‐Flow Setups

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Advanced flow setups providing thin colloid films are introduced to upscale pulsed laser fragmentation in liquids for sustainable nanoparticle synthesis. Their potential is demonstrated by yielding remarkably small ZnO nanoparticles of <7 nm. Numerical simulations complement the study, revealing that the superior performance can be attributed to ...

A multifrequency FM-based ultrasonic system for accuracy 3D measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper introduces an ultrasonic 3D position measurement system that will estimate the location of a wave source by triangulating its position based on a multiple-frequency continuous wave (MFcw) to three receivers fixed to an inertial frame of ...
