Ultrasonic sensor system

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1989
An ultrasonic sensor system particularly for automatic door openers of a swinging door type, in addition to sensors (14) for people approaching a door for controlling opening and closing purposes, has at least three microprocessor controlled ultrasonic beam transducer (40, 41, 42) for projecting expanded unidirectional ultrasonic beams in a selected ...

Demodulation of Polarimetric Fiber Laser Ultrasonic Sensor With Intensity Noise Cancellation

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2019
In this paper, the influences of the relative intensity noise, in particular the relaxation oscillation noise, of an erbium distributed feedback (DFB) fiber laser has been investigated theoretically and experimentally for use as a polarimetric ultrasonic

Ultrasonic distributed temperature sensor

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1990
Abstract The ultrasonic distributed temperature sensor is based on the dependence of sound velocity in solid materials. Measurement of propagation time of ultrasonic pulses in a thin-wire sensor provides information about its temperature. A sensor can be divided into several zones by introducing discontinuities in the acoustic impedance by means of ...

Ultrasonic temperature sensor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1987
An ultrasonic temperature sensor is based upon the variation in the speed of propagation of a torsional wave in a material whose torsional modulus varies as a function of temperature. A transducer for producing a torsional wave is coupled through an accoustic waveguide to a sensor element which has a torsional modulus which varies with temperature.

Ultrasonic distance sensor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1986
A single transducer ultrasonic distance sensor is disclosed which provides for range sensing down to zero distance from the sensor housing envelope with an electroacoustic transducer subject to unavoidable ringing following emission of a burst of acoustic energy.

Electromagnetic tomographic ultrasonic sensor

Proceedings of Meetings on Acoustics, 2012
A tomographic method based on the Lorentz force for the measurement of the pressure of an ultrasound transducer is presented. When a metal wire is vibrating under the influence of a pressure field created by an ultrasound transducer while submitted to a magnetic field, the Lorentz force induces an electrical current.

Ultrasonic-Oscillator Position Sensor

IEEE 1987 Ultrasonics Symposium, 1987
An ultrasonic oscillator in which one transducer is movable can be used as a sensitive detector of relative linear or angular position. The magnitude of the fractional change of output frequency for a given oscillator mode equals the fractional change in distance between transducers. A large dynamic range is obtainable upon switching from mode to mode.
