Corrugation and pitting of rolling surfaces — are they contingent upon ultrasonics ?

Wear, 1975
This article is an abridged version of essay number 28/1973 held in the Archiv fur Eisenbahntechnik. Rail corrugations which were a familiar phenomenon in the 1890's and similar periodic forms of wear occur in other rolling-contact combinations. In the following discussion an attempt is made to explain these manifestations.

Study on Ultrasonic Rolling Parameters to Grain Size of Aluminum Alloy 7075 Surface

2020 IEEE International Conference on Real-time Computing and Robotics (RCAR), 2020
Ultrasonic rolling is a process of intense plastic deformation and rolling under the action of a composite energy field formed by the coupling of normal static pressure and high-frequency ultrasonic impact. It can achieve the purpose of improving the quality of the processed surface and refining the surface layer grain.

Ultrasonic Measurement of Anisotropy in Rolled Materials Using Surface Wave

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1986
An ultrasonic technique for measuring the velocity of surface wave is proposed, and is applied to determine the velocity as a function of propagating direction in aluminum 5052, 5083 and 6061, and steel SM41A. From these data, each slowness diagram in the specimens was determined and it was found that this diagram can be approximated to a ellipse ...
