Ultrasonic-vibration-assisted pelleting of switchgrass: Effects of ultrasonic vibration
Transactions of Tianjin University, 2011Biofuels produced from cellulosic biomass can be used to replace petroleum-based transportation fuels. However, the manufacturing cost of cellulosic biofuels is still high, partly due to the low density of cellulosic feedstocks. Pelleting of cellulosic feedstocks can increase their density, making their transportation and storage as well as biofuel ...

The complex-mode vibration of ultrasonic vibration systems
Ultrasonics, 2002The longitudinal-flexural and torsional-flexural vibrations are studied for the ultrasonic solid horn and the ultrasonic vibration system comprised of a sandwich transducer and a solid horn. The discussed solid horn is of arbitrary non-uniform cross-section. The analysis on flexural-mode vibration is based on Timoshenko theory.

Ultrasonic sensing of vibrations
Ultrasonics, 1998A noncontact system for vibration measurement using airborne ultrasound is studied as an alternative to optical techniques. An ultrasonic beam is emitted towards the moving surface and is received after reflection from the object under test. Two different physical effects contribute to the phase modulation of the received signal.

Ultrasonic Vibration Hot Embossing
International Polymer Processing, 2005Abstract Hot embossing has become a popular method for replicating precise micro-features onto large plastic plates. However, a long cycle time of the process due to conventional electric heating or hot oil heating is one of problems that confound the overall success of this technology. This study proposed a novel hot embossing method by

Microknife using ultrasonic vibration
MHS2000. Proceedings of 2000 International Symposium on Micromechatronics and Human Science (Cat. No.00TH8530), 2002The purpose of this research is to develop a minute size knife for cutting of minute objects such as cells. We report on a microknife that cuts the object by using ultrasonic vibration of a sharp needle. We employed a multilayer piezoelectric actuator for generating the ultrasonic vibration for cutting. Also, we made a tactile sensor for the microknife

THE VIBRATIONS or wave lengths beyond those audible to the human ear (which hears vibrations of 20 to 20,000 cps) are known as ultrasonic or supersonic vibrations. These vibrations have interesting possibilities in the field of investigative dermatology.

Ultrasonic Vibration Potentials
1982Ultrasonic vibration potentials are phenomena which result from the interaction between ultrasonic waves and electrolytic solutions in the bulk or at interfaces.1 These effects have thus far received little attention in spite of the information that can be obtained from their study and their possible applications in various fields.

Burner with ultrasonic vibrator
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1980A burner with an ultrasonic vibrator wherein a plurality of electrostrictive vibrator elements are clamped between a front metal plenum having an atomizing surface formed at the leading end thereof and a rear metal plenum; an intermediate supporting member is joined to said front or rear metal plenum in proximity to one of said vibrator elements most ...

Ultrasonic Elliptical Vibration Cutting
CIRP Annals, 1995Abstract A new cutting method named ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting is proposed and applied to cutting of metals by utilizing a new vibrator to vibrate the cutting tool elliptically at ultrasonic frequency. It is confirmed experimentally that the cutting performance, in terms of the cutting force and the chip thickness, is improved ...

A vibrators alternation stepping ultrasonic motor
Ultrasonics, 2006A new concept of a vibrators alternation stepping ultrasonic motor, based on longitudinal vibrations of rectangular Langevin resonators, is presented. The new motor fed by a single-phase resource without feedback is capable of bi-directions step displacements without accumulative displacement error.
