Ultrasonic Vibration-Assisted Sintering

2020
In the recent past, ultrasonic vibrations have been used in conventional sintering to improve the performance of the manufacturing process. The ultrasonic vibration accelerates the diffusion process in the solid-state fabrications. This chapter deals with the study of fundamentals, mechanisms, and important processing parameters of the ultrasonic ...

Ultrasonic motors with polymer-based vibrators

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2015
With their characteristics of low density and elastic moduli, polymers are promising materials for making ultrasonic motors (USMs) with high energy density. Although it has been believed for a long time that polymers are too lossy to be applied to high-amplitude vibrators, there are several new polymers that exhibit excellent vibration characteristics.

Ultrasonic motors using piezoelectric ceramic multimode vibrators

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 1988
The purpose of this paper is to report development of an ultrasonic motor using piezoelectric ceramic multi-mode vibrators of circular or annular plates, in which degenerate horizontal vibration modes of the same or different form are used. Some constructions of the motor and its experimental characteristics are presented.

Press forming using ultrasonic vibration

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2007
Abstract In press forming, wrinkling and cracking must be avoided in the production of high-quality products. This can be achieved by decreasing the coefficient of friction between the sheet metal and the die. As such, using ultrasonic vibration, which involves wave at frequencies of over 20 kHz, is one way to avoid this unfavorable phenomenon.
