Ultrasonic wave transducer

An ultrasonic wave transducer which can generate a convergent ultrasonic sound beam. The transducer comprises liquid contained in a housing, a piezoelectric material in said liquid, and interdigital electrode arranged on the surface of said piezoelectric material, an alternating voltage being applied to said interdigital electrode.

A field-theoretical treatment is given of the magnetoelastic coupling of magnons and phonons in a ferromagnetic crystal. The effects of the coupling are large when the wavelengths and frequencies of the two fields are equal. Amplification of Ultrasonic Waves in Piezoelectric Semiconductors

An ultrasonic wave traveling in certain directions in a piezoelectric semiconductor such as cadmium sulfide can be amplified or attenuated by application of a dc electric field. The direct current flowing through the medium in the presence of an ultrasonic wave creates a traveling ac field which interacts with the ultrasonic wave.
